Something that The Master Chief Collection did very will is allowing unlocks via challenges in campaign. I think that this is something that Halo Infinite could greatly benefit from. I understand they probably want to keep the battlepass with multiplayer, but I feel like if someone payed $60 for the campaign, they should at least have the chance to progress through the battlepass through campaign (I would’ve liked it if some credits were given from buying the campaign, but it is what it is). Halo Infinite’s campaign is perfectly suited for some fun challenges, given that you can select any vehicle or weapon from the FOBs. This is something that could help with the current lack of replayability in campaign especially since there is no form of firefight as of right now. How would y’all feel about daily and weekly challenges for the campaign?
We would need some sort of mission replay feature first obviously. Otherwise we’d be limited to hunting down the randomly scarce roaming packs of enemies scattered about.
I would want a mission select option first, but I would be very excited about something like that. They have a very good “go back and play it again” design going for them, but the reasons to do so are largely personal. A by-design incentive to keep playing, like campaign challenges, would be very healthy for selling the campaign and future content.
To be honest, I’ve started loading MCC back up for exactly this reason. I like Infinite’s gameplay, and I managed to enjoy the campaign for what it was, but the MCC actually rewards me when I don’t feel like PvP.
One thing going back to MCC has got me thinking about is the possibility of reimagined campaign DLC for Infinite. Imagine eventually going through all previous Campaigns in the Infinite engine with updated mechanics. I love the nostalgic purity of MCC, but it’d be nice to have a new take on the old stories too.
I’m not a huge fan of PvE so it would be very dependent on what the challenges were. I wouldn’t mind some PvE stuff but it would have to be fun and not grindy.
Like I don’t really feel like replaying missions on legendary. But if you made a mission where every enemy was replaced with a suicide grunt, now I’ll take the challenge. If they were more interactive I guess and less kill 100 elites or get 200,000 score on a mission. No thanks.
That’s true. I think the big thing here would be having options though. For people who don’t like pve, they could just stick to the pvp challenges and still get a decent amount of xp and vice versa. This would help with not feeling forced to play a certain way. I agree that it would be nice to have some fun challenges beyond kill 100 elites. One of my favorite challenges in MCC was beating the mission Halo in a mongoose.
