How would the shock rifle work?

Let’s get some more good feeling and ideas topics going and let’s kick this off with the recently teased shock rifle now since this is a weapon that obviously doesn’t shoot plasma I wonder how it’ll function an idea I have is it might act like how the ravenger and the plasma pistol have their alt shots by charging them up only for the shock rifle it’s primary way to fire and could be fired early if you let go of the trigger early

like if you see some sparks from it before it’s fully charged and let go you could get a shot off kind of deal

I feel like it would be a charge up weapon (like the Railgun). Maybe when hit by it, you’re hud glitches out for like half a second, movement speed is slowed down for a short bit, and you’re shield get hit hard. I also think it shouldn’t do much to health (like the Plasma Pistol’s charge), and maybe it could have slight AOE when hitting the ground, but being hit by the blast would result in reduced effects compared to getting hit directly. One final thing, if there are sentinels in the campaign, it should be very effective against them.

Well it seems like it was desgined by the banished for such cases namely going into forerunner compounds

I could see it as a movement impairment weapon. Idk if it’ll shred shield. Maybe it “slowly” eats away at them over time. Like a DOT. Making the player hit vulnerable for an extended period. It could possibly have a proximity arc feature too. Maybe the alt shot roots the player for .5 seconds or something.

It’s probably similar to the railgun. Charge and shoot. Accuracy is critical and maybe it emp’s vehicles.

I have thought bout what it’d do against vehicles but that could happen

I like the slows you down part. I also would like it to make your shield longer to recharge back. Like a lock

Interesting thing is that it at least has 10 shots in one clip, for me that hints that it’s not a power weapon like the rail gun but more in the class of the bulldog/heatwave. The weapon itself isn’t very long as well so that might indicate a short-medium range, at least no sniper potential. There is some panel on the barrel but doesn’t seem like a scope.

Really hope it’s got more utility function then stripping shields, we already have the pulse carbine for that. EMP wouldn’t be enough so that UI distortion/slow idea would be awesome.
