Say master chief did ever retire after the reclaimer saga, and a way for them to keep his knowledge within the games and assuming locke takes lead role, chief has himself placed within a monitor like chakas was. and acts as a companion/ AI? xDD
i know this is absurd but i thought it’d be cool to see how 343 would even execute that?
EDIT: or even be put onto a data chip, that locke can carry in this helmet. xD
“Get back on your feet, soldier. You need a weapon.”
“How 'bout we try shooting our way through? Mix things up a bit.”
“Activate me… when you need me.”
“When I was you age, I never missed.”
In all seriousness, I believe that when the Chief dies, Halo dies. And we all know that John isn’t going to peacefully retire, he’s going out with a bang. Or at least the main story of it. But who knows, maybe we’ll see Locke in a load of Halo titles after Guardians, growing close with him, until he has to take Chief position. But like I said, who knows.
But I don’t really like the idea. When Chef dies, he dies. This would be like putting Johnson on a chip (although that would be cool, it won’t happen). Let dead things stay dead. If you want Chief feeding you objective markings and intel, have him do it while he’s ‘retired’, like Palmer and Miller in Spartan Ops. All this putting dead/out of comission people on AI chips probably won’t work out.
Your idea is incredibly bad… besides may be Master Chief will age as a forerunner with the librarians gift.

He ages as a regular Human does.
Maybe they could create an AI based on Chief’s brain after he dies. The AI would be Chief’s legacy, but not entirely Chief, like how Cortana is a lot like Halsey but different.

They’re just missing in action.
