How will the servers stop?

I’m wondering if the servers will just stop in their tracks and then no one can go into match made games after 12pm or will people staying on the servers keep them going. When halo 2 shut down people kept the servers alive by staying online, I just wish we could do It again to keep the older games alive. My theory is that since Xbox live isn’t shutting down like halo 2 did that they will shut off at 12 sharp, which sucks.

I believe customs and campaign/firefight will still be enabled.

If they don’t boot everyone out right on 12am then my guess is that you will be able to remain on them for some period after they are shut down, up until a point where you perhaps lose connection to live, drop out of a server, or lose power altogether. There may also be some other determining factors too I’m not sure.

Thing is Xbox live itself isn’t going away, just the games servers. Which means that the game will need servers to read and connect to for matchmaking and if 343 stops upating them, then they stop working. That’s why halo wars is staying online because the servers have never updated they are hardwired into the game itself. So if anything on the weekly reset the game will just go offline forever
