How will the back button work in split screen?

Will one player be able to play in classic and one in new mode on the same TV?

I suspect that when activated, it only affects the activater’s part of the screen.

That sounds really unlikely.

I suspect that when either player hits the Back button, the display will switch on both screens.

I believe that while in Split-Screen, if any of the two players press the Back button, will make both players change from one Graphic Engine to another. The console may not support Two different Graphic Engines working at the same time.

A notification may come up that says that the other player wants to switch modes. Both players would have to press the button at about the same time, maybe 10 seconds within each other.

Hmm, good question. It would be awesome to be able to have both on screen at the same time, but sadly I think it’s unlikely.

That wouldn’t make sense, we’re talking about Split Screen. If it weren’t split screen, then each player could play Campaign with their own Graphic Engine, since it doesn’t affect gameplay (Except for terminals, and maybe easter eggs.

It’s like if i had a friend right next to me, and we had to press the same button to change the G. Engine. No sense.

I knew there would be a few problems with my idea, I just meant that you should agree to changing engines, even on split-screen.

I don’t see why it couldn’t show different engines for both players. While I’m not a game developer, it would make sense as split screen is basically double transmitting the game signal, why couldn’t it strip off the new graphics engine on the other signal while maintaining it on the other.

It’s basically up to how the split screen works in the game. The truth is, no one knows, but it could definitely be possible for both players to see different engines. After all, it’s already running the two different engines simultaneously.

I’m pretty sure that players will be able to switch between graphics individually whenever they want. After all, it doesn’t really make any difference whether the new graphics engine is running for both players, only one, or none of them.

As for the switching itself, it seems like that the game briefly pauses when you switch in single-player while the game switches engines. Since it would be annoying if the game pauses when only one player switches, it wouldn’t surprise me if the game doesn’t pause and the switching player instead is a sitting duck during that short moment (can’t move, shoot, and so on).

If they were running different graphics engines… ha it’s more than that. More graphics means they have to run collision checks for that… certain things simply don’t exist in classic mode such as skulls… what if one player beat the other down with the skull… well that skull didn’t exist for player 2… but it did for player 1… suddenly the collision check comes up both positive and negative… which one’s real? There are just too many problems here… but imagine this over XBL… yeah. I’m gonna go with the whole… notification comes up saying xXxProsnipesIhaznolifeamdwillbetrayyouforthesniperbecauseIthinkImgoodwithitbutIreallysuckwithitxXx wants to switch to classic mode… then you press back and it switches.

Hasn’t been confirmed that you won’t be able to switch during a co-op game and will have to play the new graphics? I have read it somewhere but can’t find it.

So either it would have to switch for both players or you’d just have to stick with one or the other for the entire session. Sorry. I could be wrong though.
