Ok its been confirmed that Halo 4 Spartan ops will be a gold only feature, and this makes me wonder how will this work for people without internet and are stuck offline, will there be the first season and no more, or will spartan ops be cut out as an offline feature
At best, you’ll get access to the first “episode”, or the first CG movie and first 5 missions, and nothing more. The weekly episodes are downloaded via Xbox Live, so if you’re offline, you can’t get them

I would agreed with that, which is a disappointing for people who don’t have live.
i dont think offline-ers would have any access to it, but if the first season comes with the game then i cant see why people who are offline cant play it.

Because the mission don’t ship on the disc. There’s just too much content for that. The Mission have to be downloaded via Xbox Live. Thus, if you don’t have a connection, you don’t have access.
I find that a little unfair in a way, i’m able to play online but taking into account that its a gold only feature does that mean that it is only playable online even if new season is downloaded, the reason for me questioning this is what if someones internet goes down and want to do something while waiting for it to boot back up.
well, they will be able to play the first few episodes coming on the disk then they will kinda be screwed…

Well, if you have the missions downloaded, then you will be able to play them, internet or not.
Hopefully that is the case, i will be a little disappointed if it isn’t. hopefully 343i will clear this up before release
If the first 5 missions don’t have replayability potential (flanking, playing in reverse, etc.), then I’m afraid I’m going to have to start saying, “343 has pulled another Anniversary”.
15 minutes per mission doesn’t matter if there’s a lot of things to do, such as side objectives, preserving and herding AI, exploring outside the map, launching, etc.
But if it’s anything like Installation 04 (or any Reach firefight map), with 10 second countdowns placed to stop online cheaters, then I will be disappointed with my purchase. It won’t warrant a return but it’ll be dreadfully close to making me do so…
I hope there isn’t too much of an emphasis on Cr because that’s what most play Reach Firefight for.
In CE, if I want to have an immersive experience, that is a choice, in which I will play legitimately and without doing backpack reloads, glitches, skips, etc. Confinement will only kill replayability. Also, it is very annoying when I nerf the AI’s hearing and sight but they can still find me due to design.
Plain and simple, Reach Firefight must be forgotten.

well you need an internet connection to get the updates from the dashboard to download them.

Thanks for bringing this up. Spartan Ops seems amazing but I didn’t think of how it will work offline when I get the game. I hope Toa Freak is right when it comes to being able to play Spartan Ops offline after you have downloaded them (at least for the season). I also hope those first few Spartan Ops missions come along with the game rather than being required to have Gold membership to play those first few.

just you will play the levels i presume
Personally i think that 343 will put the entire session on a seperate disk and after the session has all been release for gold players 343 will release this disk to the retailers to sell to the offline players
I’ve never been a fan of games that have parts that require it to have online to work. All games should have bot support and offline mode play. I still play Battlefront II to this day because it can be played completely offline. The few times my internet went down for a whole day I would play games that can be played offline. I hope spartan ops will be able to be played offline after the new content is downloaded at least.

One of the reasons they keep making Halo is to support GOLD membership sales. That’s why we won’t get bots for example.

In all seriousity, I have no clue. Probably not at all. You’d most likely have to wait to get Gold back.
I personally despise 343/Mocrosoft for this mov, as someone who buys halo for the singleplayer being told to get gold or only get half the campaign makes me mad
(if they say it is included in the price of the game then should silver members get discounts then?).
I do not believe in gold multiplayer should be free as it allways was before xbox live, if you buy gold you are saying you don’t mind paying for something that was free just because they put “pretty marketing” on it, all of this “gold only” content in the game will only serve to provide the only reason I need to avoid buying Halo 4.
Dear 343/Microsoft thank you for ruining any chance of me ever getting anymore Halo games you have shown that you do not truly care about the community but only care for making a few more bucks off of your flagship game, I do not have anything against you making money but i do have objections to limiting content that is supposedly included with the game that is really just included with Gold if I buy the game, to me that is false advertising, so farewell 343/microsoft I allready miss Bungie.
I think it is really disapointing that sparton ops is only for xboxlive. Sad day.
