I haven’t played a lot of 2+ player games that have QTEs, but the idea sounds awkward, to say the least. I mean, will all 4 players have to rip open that door on Dawn, or will all 4 have to throw their own elite down the elevator shaft? Or will player 1 do everything and it just acts as a cutscene for everyone else?
Basically, how is it handled, and if we don’t yet know the answer, how do you think it should be handled?

Huh, didn’t think of this.
Maybe a cutscene for some (the Elite fight) and others just stand by and let someone else do it while they watch (opening the door, shutting down that beacon-signal-thing)
And “wait 4 weeks” is only used for “OMG this game sux because of [newest announced feature]” threads
I’m guessing the event only happens to the first player to reach the Elite. It’s probably impossible to synchronize climbing, with all the falling debris, so it’s unlikely both players could reach the Elite at the same time.
As for opening doors, that’s hardly QTE. It was in CE on the first level, on Easy difficulty. You had to press B to open a door.
In short, “QTEs” in Halo 4 are merely extensions of what you’d normally do. They’re just more dramatic.

Yeah, I decided to make a topic because this has never really been discussed, at least as far as I know. I didn’t think about it at all till today too.
And I just threw the last part in just in case. I’ve seen a lot of -Yoink- holes posting that in topics lately. >.>
I dunno, probably player one will be doing the QTE?
It took me, embarrassingly, a minute or two to realize what QTE was short for.
I had a number of rather crude extensions of the acronym ready at hand before the correct one came to me.
And I’d imagine, OP, it’s as you guessed; Player 2, 3 and 4 will watch a cutscene while Player 1 presses X to not die. =P
i imagine it would throw each player into the quick time event and everyone must succeed for the game to run fluidly.
> i imagine it would throw each player into the quick time event and everyone must succeed for the game to run fluidly.
If that’s the case, then I can see one of them forgetting or not paying enough attention and lulz (as well as frustration) will be had.
Oh and I can already hear it, “Jack! You forgot to push the button for the QTE! Were you eating?!”
In BF3, the co-op QTE had one person doing it (disarming bomb) while the other guy just holds off the enemies.
Probably the host will have to do the QTE.
Or they could always allow an option that skips QTEs like in The Witcher 2.

The only difference being that not pushing the button will probably end up in your death
I mean, in Reach you had to push a button to get the Corvette on a refueling course with LNoS, but there was no consequence to just standing there and not pressing it. Hell, you could leave the game on for hours and there would be no ill effects.
Also, the problem with QTEs is that they’re only dramatic ONCE. After the initial event, it just becomes tedious. I played through Battlefield 3, and the QTEs got real pointless and unexciting after the first one.
Probably only Player 1 will do QTE’s. However, they will affect the entire group. For reference, I give you the elevator scenario (with SPOILERS);
Master Chief is climbing up the elevator, and the Co-Op Chief’s are following him up it, unable to do/follow the jump ques, just going along with it (with no buttons pressed). However, UH-OH!! WHAT’S THIS?! DID MASTER CHIEF JUST GET HIT IN THE FACE WITH A PIPE??? OH NOES!!! He-HE-HERE IT COMES GUYS!!! -YOOOOIIIIIN-SplatYeah. I just let Master Chief get hit in the face with a pipe. WHAT NOW?!

Will there even be four-player Co-op in Halo 4? I’m sure it would be too confusing to have four players all have the same exact character model.
