How will Master Chief's story end?

I think that master chief won’t die. There are a few reasons behind this which make logical sense the first being that they need him for marketing. Master Chief is now the staple of the xbox and he is used for soo much xbox marketing and if he dies they can’t use him anymore. The second is that it’s just too risky. I don’t think 343 will take the chance at killing the Chief because if they were to mess that up and not make it perfect they would be eternal hated by the whole Halo community and lose all their money. Instead of killing him what I think they will do is make the Chief MIA. This is a good way to end his story because people will just be happy to know he’s at least out their alive somewhere and not gone. Also they can continue to use him for their marketing. The final reason they will do this is because if they ever need him again they can just pull him right back into the story. Think about it, 10 years down the line a trailer releases teasing the Master Chiefs return and the hype and revenue that the would create for them. This would be especially useful if people aren’t interested in their current games and they want to get money again. What do you guys think will happen to the Chief?

Yeah if Chief has to go i would say do that but i think it should be up to Steve Downes to say what happens to Master Chief.

I think you’re right. Killing him would create a lot of hatred among fans towards 343. Not all Heroes need to die. We have that enough in real life which is why a lot of us come to the Halo universe to escape it for a little bit at a time.
As for him going MIA, well that’d piss a lot of people off as well.

It would be sort of like what they did in Mass Effect 3. Your main character dies no matter what but all of a sudden if you buy the new download it shows his chest breathing at the end leaving us to believe that Commander Shepherd is still out there. It would be a punk move on 343’s part in my opinion. It is plausible though that they do this though to save themselves later on in case their new games start to flop but then again look what happened to Duke Nukem. Same scenario but it ended up killing a Legacy. Good post. I hope to see what others post.

Think I’d prefer him to go MIA similar to Halo 3. A possible self-sacrifice action that’s left up to the imagination.

Likely giving his life to save his species, leaving behind a legacy to be remembered by everyone who knew him. Or you know, pull a Jak and Daxter series and have the precursors sweep him up for further adventure.

chief will be MIA, leaving the community to decide whether he’s alive or dead

The Flood have returned, and there is no stopping them. As they spread and become a Gravemind, they infected planet after planet. A Keymind forms. Very few living species exist in the Galaxy. Humanity and the various Covenant spexies prepare for a final offensive. They also prepare for evacuation of the whole Galaxy.

The infinity and Rtas 'Vadum lead a fleet to the Greater Ark. Every single Spartan aboard the Infinity is taken to the Ark’s surface. But among them, an Elite team is dispatched to reach the control room. The Spartan army is a front a distraction. This team consists of Blue Red, and Gray teams, as well as the Arbiter and his squad of Sangheli.

As their boots touch the ground, and their dropadrop become specks in the sunlight, everysingle Forerunner AI and sentinel turn on the survivors. The Logic Plague is in full effect. Their dropships explode, and through the smoke comes hundreds of sentinels. The Elite team makes a run for it. They were chased by the sentinels and an army of Flood. As they enter a tunnel, a dozens more sentinels appear, and blow the entrance in an effort to cut them off. The Chief, Fred, Adrianna, Jerome, and Kelly make it through, along with the Arbiter and two of his Sangheli. Linda, Douglas, Mike, Jai, Alice, and three Sangheli are left behind. Blocked by a mountain of rubble. Those who made it through continue on, knowing their friends will sacrifice themselves to buy time.

The stagglers form a Delta, their walls facing the rubble. And they prepare for an onslaught. Wave after wave of the undead charge them. Bullets fly, and they get mowed down. The Elites all get infected. And soon, Linda does too. One by one, their weapons clack empty. Jai kneels down and reveals a HAVOK nuke from his pack. The Spartans share one final gloomy look to each other, appreciating all that they had achieved and hoping their sacrifice bought enough time. As a new wave of Flood appear and charge the remaining Spartan-IIs, Jai detonates the nuke.

Spartans Never Die.

Those who made it through stop for a moment to recognize their fallen comrades. They knew what that explosion meant. The Master Chief motions them forward. They finally reach the Control Room. It’s packed with Flood. They beeline it to the control panel on a platform at the far end of the room. The Chief removes an AI from his helmet and inserts it into the panel. He wished he had Cortana. He begins to start the activation sequence. The rest of his team circles the edge of the platform and fires at the undead. The last of the Arbiter’s Sangheli are infected. Kelly kicks them off the platform.

The Chief moves from the panel. “it is done. Halo will fire. We won.”
“We’re it so easy.” The Arbiter replies.
Chief joins them at the edge and fires into the ocean of Flood. All that’s left is to wait.

Jerome’s shotgun clacks empty. He hurls it at an incoming trio of carrier forms. In all thet chaos a combat form fires a rocket. It detonates at Kelly’s feet, and kills her shields. She is thrown to the floor unconscious, in shock, and bleeding out. Her midsection torn apart. The rocket throws Jerome and Adrianna into a crowd of hungry infection forms. The screams die down soon after they start.

Chief’s mag clacks empty. He swaps out his mag, but at the same time. A horde of infection pods leap to infect him. Fred jumps in the way. The pods explode on his shields and the syatem dies. Two combat forms jump on the platform. Fred fights off one, but the second takes all three of them off the platform. Chief watches unable to save his best friends.

The Arbiter and the Chief are the last ones. They go back to back. Chief loads his final mag into his rifle. The Arbiter activates his energy sword. There was no escape, no last minute extraction, nothing. As the infinate army of Flood gather for one final effort to wipe out the last living beings, a white light fills the room. It fills the Ark. It spreads through the Galaxy.

The Arbiter and the Master Chief are gone. Halo fired. And the cycle is left to begin again.
