In every game he stars in, Chief crash lands on something at the beginning. In CE he crash landed on Halo in a life boat. In 2 he crash landed on Earth in a Pelican. In 3 he crash landed on Earth riding debris. In 4 he crash landed on Requiem riding debris. It’s a tradition.
So what will he he crash land on, and what will he be riding this time?

Wow… Been a hardcore Halo fan since Halo CE and I have never noticed this trend… I assume he will probably crash land in a similar fashion, like a Pelican that gets shot down by Agent Locke or attacked by the Flood or something.
I want him to drive a flaming Mongoose out of a Pelican that’s also on fire. THAT is how I want Halo 5 to start.
If he does in fact go to the remains of the Ark, then he’ll probably get shot down by a Guardian Sentinel… Then miraculously survive, because, Master Chief…

But seriously… How does he survive in Halo 4? At least in Halo 3, he had a ridiculous excuse, but an excuse nonetheless.
He’ll crash land on a Sanghelios on a door.
I think it would be cool if it was while in a warthog of sorts.
Don’t forget the banshee at the beginning of The Maw in CE too…and personally I’d count him flying into the Forerunner Keyship chasing after Truth at the end of H2 as well but that’s just me.
Also, aboard the Phantom (or was it a Lych?) that crashed into Carrick Station in Halo 4, AAAAAND the Longsword fighter into the Didact’s ship…yeah, his track record isn’t that great in terms of landings.

He’s going to crash a halo into a planet!
I think the “For a brick, he flew pretty good” scene in Halo 2- extreme high altitude jump onto In Amber Clad- should make the list. You could also add his ODST drop. Also, Chief’s “You’re not gonna make it!”/“We’ll make it.” scene in CE. He’s always crashing into something.
I believe john leaves the infinity eventually. Given the events following and after Halo 4 ends, it would not make sense for him to be crash landing at all. He could have a malfunction in his little spaceship, but that’s about it…
Who knows, maybe they will just throw John towards a random planet/ring for the sake of it xD.

Well… he could have gotten caught up in the piece of metal that knocked him out, shielding him on entry.
You also have to keep in mind that this wasn’t a normal planet. They were being pulled in by a gravity well, so that could have an effect on the speed and such of the things falling in.

The Next 72 Hours comic will fuel the speculation in this thread no doubt. I noticed the recurring event of Chief crashing and I’ve thought of it as a Halo tradition, hopefully 343i continued this.

There really is no other way Halo 5 could start. Only way it could be better, is if the thing he was landing on was also on fire.
But that’s crazy talk.

I don’t know what he could crash. There’s so many options.
