I’d rather have them take their time and do it RIGHT as opposed to letting themselves be rushed into anything by all the complainers/whiners. This is Halo and I want them to do it right.
> > Wow really people? It’s called patience. You guys are acting like children, “BUT I WANT CHANGE NAO!!!” It will release when it is ready. I’m pretty certain they released the TU today so that there wouldn’t be heavy traffic on the servers on Oct. 4th when everyone is downloading it. Just be patient. It’s quite simple.

These changes were sort of inevitable if the people in charge of the game (whether it be Bungie or 343) wanted it to be successful for anywhere near as long as previous Halos. It’s no secret Reach has declined at an extremely quicker rate than the others. Frankly, it’s about damn time.

well not enough perspectives. why should they have a reason its there game they have a right to release what content they want whenever they are good and ready. Also its not like they have been sitting back twiddling their thumbs for the past year they been transitioning from Bungie to 343i, making map packs, making playlist updates based on what the community was saying, and making sure this update is ready. This eats up a hell of alot of time and man power. its not like its a few button presses and its done. They can not change anything on a whim. It is a very hard and stressful life for video game designers trying to get something just right to live up to expectations. So, just kick back relax watch some T.V. and if you feel like it play some Reach and just wait for it to come when its ready.
It’s really a simple, reasonable, and most certainly logically sound request.
For example, if there is a technical issue with getting the gametype out at the moment, a simple statement release such as “Hey guys, there is an issue with the Title Update at the moment so it’s going to be a bit longer on the gametype release”.
The pros of this:
- More respect from the community.
- Less forum clutter to clean up later on.
The cons of this:
- Nothing.
Currently we’re just being given pseudo-riddles such as Frankies NeoGaf post.
The pros of this:
-Nothing.
The cons of this:
- A frustrated player base.
- Countless fans waiting eagerly at their Xbox all day, cancelling obligations for something that may not even come due to lack of information (granted, this isn’t 343’s fault per say, as people make their own choices, but they wouldn’t be doing this if they had the proper information).
It’s called the delopment cycle. It takes time to make these things and no one ever finishes early and says “Ok! We’re done! EVERYONE STOP WORKING NOW!” they work on it until shortly before its certified to be released. (in most digital download cases)
Also marketing has a large play in hyping things up. Because it sells games. And game devs need money too. Food, electricity and bills don’t pay themselves.

Perfect example of the absolute wrong mindset to have right here.
Asking for accurate information in regards to a release is nothing insane. It is BEYOND reasonable.

> You talk of updates and clarification with regards to custom gametypes and when the TU will come into effect. It is literally all there in the weekly bulletins.
I’m sorry, but nowhere in any of the bulletins is there any direct clarification on when the gametype will be released. There isn’t any clarification on the reasoning behind the extra delay either. It’s more Bungie-esque riddle nonsense. This is exactly what I hope 343 moves away from at some point.
Take a look at Notch (Minecraft) for example. He is one of the most beloved developers in the entire world. Why? Because he gives his fan base direct and honest information. Whenever something is happening with his games he informs the fans near immediately, and the Minecraft fan base is just as large, if not larger than the Halo fan base at this point.
As far as being “self-entitled”…Nowhere did I demand anything, nor did I say an explanation was owed to anyone. I made a request. Asking a question is not self entitlement. It’s the proper way to form a line of a communication in the real world. So please, stop putting words in my mouth, and try to comprehend my statements before misconstruing them so poorly.
It’s been clearly stated in the bulletins that no gametype would be released the day of the TU. The reason for this is so 343 has some time to fix any problems with the TU if any occur and by the looks of the forums there are a few. It’s also to give them enough time to test out the gametype themselves now that the TU has been released. They’re probably running games on Reach as we speak making sure everything is good to go with the TU in case they need to take it down, fix it, and re-release it as soon as they can. Once they’re sure that the TU didn’t mess anything up with Reach, then they’ll start running games on the gametype to make sure everything is running smoothly there as well. Once everything checks out then they’ll make it public for the rest of us. There is a lot more work that goes into this stuff than just the touch of a button. If they could’ve released it today then they would’ve. There is no need to bash 343 just for your impatience.
All will be made clear in the bulletin later today.
One word of advice
Chill
343 didn’t have to give us this title update. They easily could have taken the stance that Reach was Bungie’s game, and that they didn’t want to mess with the core mechanics. Instead, they’re giving us a free update. Complaining that it’s not here fast enough is probably the lamest thing you could do. It’ll be here soon, be thankful we’re getting anything at all.
and when/how will we know when its out??
We don’t know, any time between now and October 4th.
OP i love you. that was well said my friend. awesome. 10/10.
I’m guessing there may be a link for it in the next Halo bulletin, whenever that may be.

I never said “stop whining” all I am pointing out is that both of you are being pretty impatient when you know already that the changes will be coming soon. People expect more at this point? I’m sorry but what has 343i been doing this whole time? They had the common courtesy to actually release a TU, Halo: Anniversary and working very hard on another Halo trilogy. If that isn’t being loyal to the fans, I don’t know what is anymore.
> I’m guessing there may be a link for it in the next Halo bulletin, whenever that may be.
Today if it all goes to plan.
Count down to the count down of the count down!
343i must be perfecting the gametypes. I’m expecting my socks to be blown off. Taping my socks down as we speak, itchy, but will be worth it.

It’s not like they are going to stop the Halo franchise. Or the passionate fans who want to see the best become of it.
They already said that we would have to wait a bit to take the changes for a spin so you should have been prepared for this. They have their reasons they don’t have to tell you what they are I’m just happy that we get a TU.
