Really wish it was today…
It better be at least by the end of the week.
> Also, just to let everyone know the update downloads in approximately less than 30 seconds (it did for me at least)
>
> It is a very quick download.
That’s not suprising considering the TU is only 2 MB big … or small, actually. I would have thought it’d be bigger. But at least that means you get it very quickly. =)
Alright, I don’t want to set this thread off on a rude notion, but the fact is that a very large portion of the players that play this game have been waiting since September 14th, 2010 for these type of settings to be released. The fact is that we are capable today. The update is out. Almost everyone has it bar any anomalous technical errors of which typically is on the users end.
What is the legitimate reasoning behind waiting any longer to release this gametype? There are literally thousands of players around the world right now waiting for this, and yet this same Bungie-esque cryptic nonsense continues. Why is this? Seriously, we have waited long enough.
An entire year since launch and finally we are capable of playing the game in a manner that we all wanted and expected of Bungie to begin with, though they failed to deliver it. I tip my hat off to 343i for putting forth the effort to right Bungies wrongs and give the Halo community the game they originally wanted, but why must this waiting happen any longer?
Here is the facts. Roughly two weeks after the original launch of the game, JTAG modders were capable of playing Reach with zero bloom already. We as a community know that removing bloom was not difficult for you to do from a technological standpoint, and we know that Bungie themselves could have removed it any day they pleased. The fact is that they didn’t want to, for whatever reason, despite the communities cries for change. In comes 343i, willing to embrace the change, and here we are today. The game is running on 1.1, and the ability to finally play without this forsaken bloom is ever present.
I ask what is the reasoning for any further delay? People are skipping school, calling out of work, and cancelling other various obligations in the hopes that they’ll be able to play Halo: Reach the way they have always wanted to today. Please, just spare us any further frustration, and let us enjoy the game finally. It has been nearly a year. We’ve waited long enough.
I tell you what, 343i will concentrate on fixing the bugs associated with the TU’s download and install, THEN they’ll get right on giving us a custom game or 2
Tis better to deal with 1 flood you can control rather than allow all of the gates to open and try to manage the chaos.

I
I think they should have had more than enough time to fix the bugs and errors that might be found in the TU. Also, it isn’t like the TU is set at this time, since they will be releasing a beta playlist in oct 4.
343 needs to stop being lazy and get moving. The Halo Reach population has dropped to 50k players (100k max on a good day). This is a really sad outcome for a Halo title.
They really do need to release a gametype today…and honestly i think if its not zero-bloom there will be a lot of un happy campers. I dont really care but thats just my guess.
Skitzo is right though…i always expected this stuff from Bungie but just for once I’d like for the company running halo to just be straight up with the community. No excuses, no cryptic messages, no BS, just the truth…although I will say they have involved the community and informed the community way more than Bungie ever did so for that i salute you 343i.
While I may be a little upset about possibly not getting a gametype today I do still think what they are doing to try to save the Halo community is a huge step in the right direction and gives me hope for Halo 4. So regardless of what happens today, Bravo 343i Bravo

Exactly, I’m sick of the hype they always try to build. “OMG TU, OMG HALO REMAKE, OMG HALO 4”
I am getting sick of all the teasers and all the little information we are given for an existing game. Halo Reach is dying, fix it before its too late and before people stop caring.

If it’s so easy, why aren’t we all gameplaying programmers ourselves? And yes, the TU IS set. It won’t become active till Oct 4. Problems as the ones we are currently having should be scheduled in on an optimistic basis. That is why the TU is being downloaded but not being made active.
The Monitors must maintain protocol each step of the way to ensure a proper firing of the system.
Maybe if you send them a tear soaked letter it will change their mind?
I mean seriously, they must have a good reason for the wait. They’re giving us custom games. Just relax.
Just be glad a TU is coming at all. A small line of code can put a damper on the whole thing, so if they wanna take some time and get it just right, that’s fine with me.
We’ll all be playing the custom gametype eventually, but until then give 343i a break. They’re trying to revamp halo reach, working on a remake, working on a halo 4 AND trying to put up new content for waypoint, both 360 and the site.
Chill out. The gametype will be out soon.
Wow really people? It’s called patience. You guys are acting like children, “BUT I WANT CHANGE NAO!!!” It will release when it is ready. I’m pretty certain they released the TU today so that there wouldn’t be heavy traffic on the servers on Oct. 4th when everyone is downloading it. Just be patient. It’s quite simple.

Maybe it would…will you try it and let me know?
I seriously dont understand that response and i see it all the time…“they must have a good reason”…really?..well then maybe they should enlighten us? If there is a good reason then by all means share it! is it really to much to ask to keep your fans informed? i think not.

Nothing I said was childish. I simply asked for clarification on the matter. Something Bungie never gave us, and something the Halo community would be extremely grateful for if 343 actually answered.
Is waiting for a year not being patient enough? These changes were sort of inevitable if the people in charge of the game (whether it be Bungie or 343) wanted it to be successful for anywhere near as long as previous Halos. It’s no secret Reach has declined at an extremely quicker rate than the others. Frankly, it’s about damn time.
Having said that, I’m not here to try and talk down on 343. I appreciate everything they are doing in making amends to this game and the community. I’m simply asking for clarification on a matter that doesn’t seem to make much sense from several perspectives.
Didn’t they say they’re waiting til all the versions of Reach have the update available? I’m seeing reports that the downloadable and dashboard preview versions aren’t being offered the update yet.

Microwave/fast food society…gotta love it.
Seriously, people, wait. We all know it will happen. There’s a saying…if it won’t matter 5 years from now, it shouldn’t matter now. And a couple of days difference on wether or not Reach’s Title update is acessable NOW won’t matter when we’re all playing halo 5.

well said…its just a matter of a common courtesy to your fans…Just because people would like clarification and not cryptic messages doesnt mean they are whining…it means they expect more from 343i then what Bungie offered the community for so many years.
Im pretty sure theres more problems with vanilla Reach then the Title Updateed Reach.
Fix 2 things, out of oh, I dont know, maybe 20 problems.
Oh, so so difficult. Hell, if they’ve had time to work on 2 games, Im pretty sure a small Title Udate should have been a breaze
They clearly have reasons why, which don’t really need disclosing. They have a schedule for this sort of thing in order to stay organized, and top of that, there are issues with the TU download, which means they’re probably dealing with that (and probably allotted for this time, since there can always be unforeseen issues with new updates [the one that ruined everyone’s old-model 360 is a prime example] ).

Here’s the thing…the TU had already been downloaded for a lot of people. We are all aware that we won’t see the changes implemented in MM until October 4th, but many of us would like to run some customs with the setting that should have become available with the TU.
Obviously 343 has been play testing the reconfigured gametypes, so it’s not unreasonable for people to want to play them too when we now have the capability to support these new gametypes.
We are, and will continue to be patient, but most people (myself included) can’t understand what it is exactly that is keeping 343 from releasing gametypes for use in customs when there is no question that they are available.
