How will Halo 5 compete against it's competitors ?

https://youtu.be/6eoC-0O-JGM

Hey guys the the video link above discusses my concern for Halo 5 when big titles like Black Ops 3 launch later this year. What I’m kind of worried about is Halo’s population after the release of black ops 3. The same situation already happened with Halo 4 and black ops 2. Black ops 2 released a week later than Halo 4 and spliced the halo population. Now with the MCC we see the game is dying/dead, with other shooters prevailing on top. Will this happen again to halo 5 ? What do you guys think at this point.

In the video I also discuss some ways that Halo 5 could remain at a steady population, with regards to new content and gameplay features

Blops 3 is terrible.

Blops 2 was good

H4 was terrible.

What will h5 be? If it’s bad, people will flow to another game. If it’s good, people will stay.

They’ve already said that they’ll be releasing hundred(s?) of new items via the REQ system, there’s the possibility of PvE only Warzone, and free maps.
Looking pretty good already.

I’ve been hearing the exact opposite actually, with gamers saying that black ops 3 is good this year (although they all say that lol). I mean if you think blops 2 was good then black ops 3 is almost the same imo. Just had different guns and thrusters

lol

Nah bo3 is like the cod ghost of treyarch from what ive seen but we all know the kids, trolls and what not will all get it. You seem to die in like two shots with some guns, you can stand still then just slide, and other little things. I do like that you can shoot while sliding and climbing.

Terrible beta they mean because of the lag and teleports that happen

Halo 5 needs to be fun and competitive from the start with good community features to keep people coming back. Good forge, good playlists and good ranking system is a must.

Bungie were always great with the community aspect with the ‘Bungie favourite’ forge maps, game modes and EXP weekends etc and they have even kept people interested in the terrible game which is Destiny by doing similar things.

For the first time in a long time Halo really looks set to be the best shooter this year.

Black Ops 3 is the least tempted I’ve been to buy a CoD since the series started. It just looks like a much worse version of Advanced Warfare.

My call of duty blops 3 beta experience was actually pretty good. Mind you I played on ps4. I haven’t played that game since mw2 black ops 1. And that’s when I was at the end of high school. Going to college. Halo 4 imo was fun as hell. Sure the dmr was the best weapon to use. But close combat maps were pretty exciting. Some of The big maps were good. I like BTB. I prefer it over a small map all day. I guess because of battlefield. I think halo 5 will hold its own. It looks fun to play and refreshing. They’re trying new stuff with old stuff. It looks cool.

to be honest it has just as good as a chance as all the other games out there. It not doing something completely different or standing out against the rest if anything its following the trend with the other competitors so there won’t be a clear winner. You’d probably have to wait about 6 months after release to see who came out on top.

If its a good game with a lot of quality content people will play regardless of whatever else is out. The consumer base is too large to blame any dropoff in sales or population on the “competition” bogeyman, there is easily enough room for vibrant populations of all of these major titles.

Even if none of these other titles were coming out, that doesn’t mean the audience still couldn’t reject Halo 5 if they didn’t care for it for whatever reason. “X game didn’t sell well or have a high pop due to its proximity to a high profile release” is a viable excuse for an indie developer, not an established AAA franchise. Halo 5 will succeed or fail entirely on its own merits.

Well said.

The reality is, Black Ops 3 is probably going to hold the most players as the COD series usually does, mostly because of the name, even if it’s the same game with minor differences.

However, I can’t help but feel that Halo 5 will have it’s share of players since there seems to be a game mode or game type for everyone, along with the new gameplay mechanics that newcomers will be familiar with.

AW consistently fell out of the xbl top 5.

By being the best damn Halo it thinks it can be. Past that, it’s the community interaction that keeps a lot of other game populations high. Facilitating that which we take for granted will go a loooooong way.

Has it? Every time I’ve checked this week, it’s been around 3rd or 4th place. They must’ve done something to increase the player count since the last fall out.

It fluctuates in and out of the top 5.

halo 5 will compete by being the best place for good FPS gameplay;

CoD is a luck based twitchfest of who shoots first wins. i played the beta, it got stale after i made an smg work at close, mid and long range out performing “better” weapons for those ranges. i’m very looking forward to Zombies though.

Star wars is battlefield on sci-fi crack from what little i have seen.

battlefield is actually not that bad if you can handle chaotic nonsense with crap guns… its awesome if you like using OP vehicles. assuming they stick to their regular formula

so halo has gone back to a mobile combat, team based arena shooter that focuses on map control and power weapons. equal starts in arena suit the competitive scene and the loadouts and req packs in warzone along with its vehicle suitable maps will satisfy the casual crowd, forge and customs will help bridge the two groups and as always, campaign, in terms of selling games only star wars has a story worth buying the game for, if it has one at all, other than halo.

You forgot to talk about the file browser. Which is where I start to worry. We haven’t gotten any confirmation of a file browser and from the menu leak, the file browser in said menu just seemed to be a place were you manage your files rather then a file browser.
