How Will Halo 4 playlists work?

During the E3 press conference they played Regicide, Infinity Slayer, and Teams Slayer.(During the MLG Pro Gamespot tournement. They played both “Team Slayer” and “Infinity Slayer”)

Team Slayer - When they were playing “Team Slayer” the guy from E3 said it didn’t have any weapon drops.

Infinity Slayer - Included Weapon drops and everything else.

So how will this work? Will they divide modes into Infinity and non Infinity? Like could I choose to play the non weapon drop team slayer if I pleased? WIll they do this with all gametypes? Can anyone shed light on this topic? I would link to the video where this was said but I don’t remember what part of the tournement they were playing. There were so many videos for that, but they were playing on Haven when I heard it.

each playlist will have a tiny virtual elf inside it that turns a cog that drives the search and starts the game, that’s how it will work.

but to answer your question the infinity slayer will probably be in its own playlist with different variants like infinity swat or something.

Yeah that’s kinda what I was thinking (not about the tiny virtual elf, but about the playlist seperation) At least I hope that how it is, I wasn’t really a fan of having weapon drops. Though I might still play Infinity from time to time. Because weapon drops wouldn’t be too bad every now and then.

you’re probably going to really hate this comparison, but there isn’t much else to compare the weapon drops to.

I imagine it to be like the care package system in CoD. one player would get a care package drop but the package itself is vulnerable to the other team. so it would be like that; the other team could steal the weapon(s) if they’re good enough.

Yeah it is like a care package. In the tournement they said it was earned by point from medals you earned. Then you can drop it, and yes other people can pick it up. That’s what the cube meter is in gameplay. They don’t build up though. But yes spot on comparison. I don’t mind the fact that you compared it to CoD because you were right but I don’t like CoD so that’s the main reason I was hoping playlist would be seperated like Infinity and non infinity. But if they aren’t seperated I can deal, it’ll still be a long ways away from being CoD. Sure they will have something similiar but that doesn’t mean they are the same.

Does anyone know for sure whether playlists will be seperated like this or not? I’m thinking they probably will.
Example of Non seperated: It will be a matter of voting for map/Gametype.

Is infinity slayer based on medal points instead of kills?
If so I really hope they’re separated.

There is a points system for score, not entirely on medals. Kills are worth 10 points. If you land a headshot on that kill it’d be 15, it’d add 5 for the headshot. Different medals give you a few extra points. you earn points for assists. Stuff like that, though a bulk of your points will probably come from Kills seeing how kills give the most points… I think. I’m pretty sure thats for both Infinity and Non Infinity. I think it’s just the new scoring system as a whole.
