How will controls work?

Ok so I play on bumper jumper so these are how my controls work in reach.
Left trigger - Grenade toss
Right trigger - Shoot
Left bumper - Jump
Right bumper - Melee
Y button - saith weapon / B button - reload / A button - Change grenade / X button - AA
Left/right stick - movements
Left/right stick click - zoom and crouch.
Back button - check the score
Start button - options

Okay I mention all this because if Sprint is now its own ability that’s permanent which button is assigned for my new ability. Only thing left is the d-pad.
My point being is I play bumper jumper so I don’t have to keep taking my hands off the sticks. But with the ability to Sprint and use another ability which button will be used for that. Do you have to switch between Sprint and your ability so that one button can be utilized for both actions. Because if so that would get annoying.

This isn’t a complaint thread I just want to know a legitimate way all these actions could be excuted with any of the control schemes given.

I might have to invest in a razor onza just so i can play bumper jumper still and sprint

Most likely by clicking in the Left Stick will allow you to sprint

And I am also a Bumper Jumper.

Not sure… I trust that 343 cannot possibly mess up the controls… Actually, you know what? I don’t trust them completely right now, they’re making a ton of decisions that don’t seem to be pleasing anybody. Perhaps it is in their best interest to just implement button mapping. I don’t see the harm in it.

I think your controlls should be customizable to suit your playstyle.
Plus presets so if you still prefer bumper jumper you can pick that instead.

I like bumper and recon. I can play on either one just fine.

Left stick is crouch.

I will lose my mind if that happens. That would mean crouch would have to be on a toggle system.

> Left stick is crouch.

Perhaps you click the left stick to crouch when stood still and when your moving you click the left stick to sprint.

See my point all buttons except the d pad have been taken up by other actions. There isn’t enough buttons. The only thing I can think of is you use the d pad to toggle your ability on. But to have to do that 30 Times a game would be ridiculous.

I wouldn’t like that.

On the same button? press and hold?

> > Most likely by clicking in the Left Stick will allow you to sprint

The same. but you stand still then click the left stick to crouch and when you move you will still be crouched, you click it again to stand up

when moving forward and you click the left stick you sprint. but the speed in which your character is moving will determin if you sprint or not, similar to how it works in Reach.

Just a theory.

Man I would really like custom button mapping…

That might work. It would be a little weird to get used to. Never used a toggle crouch. And it would be bad to be in a situation where you’re crouched then you need to Sprint right away. You would have to click move click. Not a hard combo but easy to mess up when under pressure and could result in a lot of aggravating deaths.

crouch and sprint on the same stick cant work. Not well anyways. it would completely screw all the people who throw crouches in with their strafe.

I dont care as long as there is a Halo 3 control scheme, also custom button mapping would be cool

Believe it or not I have been in that situation in Reach a few times and I found it funny but yeah it would take a little while to get use to but I’m willing to learn.

Not sure how well that would work, what if you wanted to crouch while strafing?

It would depend on how far the left stick is pushed forward similar to how it works in Reach. You have to have the left stick pushed forward so far before you can sprint.

again this is just a theory and without anyway to test it and compare it to how the toggling option would work by using the d-pad, we wouldn’t know which is the best. both theories sound like they would take the same amount of time to get from crouching to sprinting. So again its all down to the player because one might prefer the method that depends on your movement to the method where you toggle and another player could be the opposite.
