How will be LE buyers be affected by free maps?

Question in Topic

In a way that doesn’t -Yoink- over other consumers who don’t want to spend more than 60$ on a game.

I don’t think paying extra will be affected by free maps.

Limited Editions tend to have a Season Pass for Free DLC maps.

But what’s the point then for the LE edition since maps will be free for regular editions?

Im buying LCE

From my understanding, the only thing that is for certain in the Limited Edition is Halo 5. LE Buyers won’t be effected in any real way. There will probably be physical and digital goodies in the LE, (Halsey’s Journal in Reach/ the S-IV book)

LE buyers aren’t affected by free maps.

H2 Limited Editions didn’t come with free maps. A booster disc gave all the maps plus a few more though. But also, many DLC packages become free after a time back in those days.

H3 Limited Edition didn’t come with free maps. ODST was the booster disc for all the maps.

H4 Limited Edition was kinda like paying for the DLC upfront and we got some extra physical stuff for doing so.

H5 Limited Edition is yet to be revealed.

One pays more than they have to for a game not because the value is worth it but because it’s worth it to them!

I’ve got the Limited Collection Edition, regular, and the Xbox whenever it’s announced… So…
What do I get special? I still have yet to see the -Yoink!- statue, I hope they show it and the Xbox Monday. Would be awesome.

I could see LE buyers getting free maps a month early perhaps, that might work.

That would immediately destroy the entire idea of not splitting the playerbase…

Letting them get it only a month early isn’t good enough?
I’m sure it’ll be some sort of extra armor, or weapon skin or something. But it would have to be significant for them to make it worth the 40$ more.

Spartan ops season 2? Halo 5: ODST? There’s going to be a halo 5 add on so chances are LE buyer will get it free.

I can see it as LE owners have access to the maps a month or so as a beta before public release to make sure the maps are ready for release. Look at the actual beta and the changes made on Empire. If the game launched with no beta, the original map would still exist that couldn’t be changed.

Titanfall showed that gating off dlc and then making it free doesn’t bring back the split, the damage is done. People leave pretty quick.

If that were a thing, I don’t think there would be enough LE people playing on the exclusive playlist that would be needed. A small fraction of the players would probably actually give good feedback.

Actually the topic doesn’t really formulate a coherent question.

It would probably remain unchanged. LE owners get the free maps too.

ew never support pay barriers. halo 2 and 3 were a chore to get friends to buy dlc, but they did because it was popular and they were played often, reach and 4 didn’t have that guarantee. don’t limit that style of content. i bought h3 legendary for the helmet and behind the scenes features disc. there are other means to offer content than a map pass, something more meaningful, then it’s a win/win

Extra exclusive skins and other digital/physical content, I’d imagine.

Not really in halo, it didn’t happen in reach and I believe it didn’t happen in 3. And the point of limited editions isn’t free maps. Its the content like Halseys journal and unsc documents that make them worth buying
