How/why do the Prometheans change colour?

I’ve tried to find a useful answer, but can’t seem to find one. After playing through the campaign, I was a bit confused about how the Prometheans changed colour from bluish-purple to reddish-orange. I’m not a big Halo Universe junkie so please don’t kill me for not knowing too much on Halo.

My only guess as to why the Prometheans changed colour is that the Librarian programmed the Prometheans to serve her, but when MC accidently awakened the Didact, the Didact re-programmed the Prometheans to serve him. Am I right? I am very curious about the Halo universe. Also, can Prometheans be another colour that is not Blue or Orange? Why do the Prometheans change colour?

I really just think they changed color because 343 wanted to actually show their shift in allegiance…

It’s based purely on aesthetics. There isn’t any real significance as to why. lol.

Sometimes its best to just suspend any disbelief and enjoy what’s being presented to you… It is science fiction, after all. ^^

The Librarian turned them Blue when she brought them under her control. This is shown in the Halo 4 Terminals.

I think he was asking the actual purpose behind them changing colors beyond aesthetics… Although I think I was looking too deep into his question. XD

They’re loyal to the Didact, so if they aren’t influenced by somebody else they’ll be orange.

When you first meet them, the Librarian had reprogrammed them to serve her, not the Didact.

This changed them to the normal/lifeworker color- Blue.

When the Didact awakens, he takes control of them again, turning their color red/orange- the color of the Prometheans/ Unbound Didact.

Well, it was just for aesthetics, seeing that Prometheans in past fiction have been blue, not orange. Since blue has been much more dominant in Halo fiction than orange has, maybe it was to symbolize the shifting of the guard from Bungie’s blue Promethean design to 343i’s orange Promethean design. I really wish that in the level Forerunner that the forerunner weapons were blue as well.
