How were the weapons tuned exactly?

Hey guys,
This isn’t a thread about what should be done with the weapons in Halo 4, I just want to know what has happened to the weapons so far. I know the BR and Carbine have been buffed and the DMR’s accuracy and magnetism has been reduced or something. Is the light rifle still more powerful when scoped?

It would be helpful if someone could list or link me to exactly what they did. Like how exactly did they buff/nerf the different weapons/vehicles?

Thanks in advanced to anyone who responds constructively.

I think they removed or toned down aim assist of automatic weapons and gave them a decent buff as well to balance it.

Also as far as I know the light rifle is more powerful than the dmr when zoomed still. it was also more powerful or equal to the br before the buff so i don’t know about the normal burst… I assume it’s weaker now

Weapon Changes

Battle Rifle

[/li]- The Battle Rifle damage has been increased. The Battle Rifle is now capable of killing in four bursts.

  • The Battle Rifle rate of fire has been slightly decreased.
  • The Battle Rifle red reticle range (range at which auto-aim benefits kick in) has been decreased.
  • Two bursts from a Battle Rifle followed by a melee will now kill an opponent (2-shot melee).

Covenant Carbine

  • The Carbine damage has been increased. The Carbine is now capable of killing in seven rounds.
  • The Carbine accuracy has been increased (projectile spread decrease).
  • The Carbine red reticle range has been decreased.

LightRifle

  • The LightRifle zoomed rate of fire has been increased.
  • The LightRifle un-zoomed rate of fire has been slightly decreased.
  • The LightRifle red reticle range has been increased to match the updated DMR range.

DMR

  • The DMR red reticle range has been slightly decreased.

Assault Rifle, Storm Rifle and Suppressor

  • The Assault Rifle, Storm Rifle and Suppressor’s damage has been slightly increased. The Assault Rifle, Storm Rifle and Suppressor now kills in three less rounds.
  • The Assault Rifle, Storm Rifle and Suppressor’s auto-aim angle has been reduced.
  • The Assault Rifle, Storm Rifle and Suppressor’s projectile spread has been decreased.

SAW

  • The damage has been increased to maintain double the damage-per-second of the Assault Rifle.

Magnum

  • The damage has been slightly increased. The Magnum is still capable of killing in six rounds.
  • Vehicle Changes*

Warthog & Mantis

  • The damage has been increased on both the Mantis and Warthog Chain Gun.

Just off the top of my head:
-Universally, every primary headshot weapon has received a modified red-reticle range. The Light Rifle has been slightly increased, with the DMR’s lowered to match this new standard. The Battle Rifle and Carbine’s RRR has been lowered as well, identical to each other.

-Battle Rifle damage has been increased, the weapon now requires 11 bullets(4 bursts) as opposed to 13(5 bursts). Rate of fire has been slowed ever so slightly to compensate.

-Carbine received a spread reduction, along with a damage increase. The Carbine now takes 7 shots to kill. Rate of fire is unchanged.

-The Light Rifle received a rate of fire alteration for both scoped and unscoped shots. While scoped, the Light Rifle will fire much faster than before. The unscoped Light Rifle has the same shot delay as the newly-modified Battle Rifle while retaining the 14-bullet kill.

-Each automatic received a reduced autoaim angle. Your reticle must be centered on the target more than before the update. Bloom expansion has been slightly reduced on every loadout automatic weapon.

-Each automatic loadout weapon received a damage increase. Each one now takes 3 less shots to kill. The Assault Rifle now kills in 13, the Storm Rifle in 12, and the Suppressor in 11(unsure).

-The Storm Rifle’s ammo consumption has been altered. For every 2 shots, the battery will be reduced by 1%, granting 200 total bullets.

-The Magnum’s damage has been increased slightly. It is still a 6-shot kill, but the 4th bullet will leave just a sliver of shields left. Due to the Magnum’s lack of bleedthrough, the 5th shot will only take out this sliver, and leave the health untouched for the 6th bullet to kill with a headshot.

-The SAW has received a considerable damage increase to compensate for the new Assault Rifle. It now kills twice as fast as the Assault Rifle.

-Both the Mantis and Warthog chainguns have received a damage increase.

Any changes to bolt shot/plasma pistol? How about the shot guns or snipers? Also why does the DMR feel so weak now?

The DMR’s damage was not changed. All the other weapons were buffed so it feels weaker.
Storm rifle ammo consumption correction: 3 shots per 1% without ammo, 300 total shots.
With ammo perk: 4 shots per 1%, 150% charge resulting in 600 total shots.
All that was tested.

There was a nerf to the Boltshot earlier in the year, but nothing changed on June 3rd. There was also no change to the Plasma Pistol, Shotguns or Snipers.

The DMR hasn’t changed in terms of damage, just a reduced red reticule range.

Well it’s interesting looking at the data and learning about what has happened so far in the tuning. Some of the power weapons also felt weaker, but that’s just because the normal weapons got a buff. I am sad to see that the DMR went from one of the fastest kill times to one of the slowest. I personally like the DMR. Oh well adapt I guess. I guess the BR isn’t as OP as the DMR was though. I am really happy that the automatics got better. But again this thread shouldn’t be about opinions on if the changes were good or what changes would be better.

Was melee altered at all? Or movement speed?

Melee was unchanged but movement speed was increased to 110% across all playlists minus Grifball, Team Snipers & Rock N Rails in Action Sack.

Was the weapon tuning only valid in the multiplayer, or is it that way in the campaign too? I was playing the campaign and it feels a little different now.
