Finished Glasslands, and had the thought, I remember 343i talking about in halo 4 we will learn more about Johns past and see a different side to him. I think the way they are going to do this is with Hasleys journal. Parongosky said in glasslands she is giving all the spartans an option to find out about their life and families from before they were kidnapped via Hasleys files and im thinking whenever or however john is found/shows up he will chose to find out what was in his file. The only thing is I dont know how he will be found by the humans because though I thought for awhile he was the “unknown threat” outside the ONYX Dyson Sphere that made the huragok wary of sending out the transmission to get an evac, if the halo 4 teaser trailer is accurate with the location johns heading it cant be the ONYX dyson sphere unless it has already been abandoned by the humans, which wouldnt make any sense with all the information there OR if he is going into the dyson sphere i dont think we’ll be investigating the onyx dyson sphere because humans will have already been in there and would find john quickly. But i do think the way we will find out about john more will be through the files parongosky is making available
Well, the only new info you will get on John is who his perants were and where he came from. The rest of his life after he was taken by ONI is detailed in The Fall of Reach.
I would be disapointed if the Halo 4 trailer object was Trevelyan as I wan’t Halo 4 to go places that are new, not to start wraping up loose ends.
Besides, comparing the opening on the planet/thing to the actual size of the object itself, that door chief is flying towards would have to be the size of our sun!

Huh? How are you figuring that the object is so large? Heck, if some of the Halo 4 art out there has proportionally-sized bits and pieces and the expected depth scale, the object is actually fairly “small,” even by planetary standards. But I’d be hesitant to make any measurements based on vague stylized images.

In Glasslands, when the ONI RF Trevelyan (the dyson spher) is in normal space, it is the size of earths orbit around the sun.
This means that Trevelyan is 300 million kilometers fron one side to the other.
Our sun is only 1.3 million kilometers wide. (and Trevelyan has a sun in the centre which is just slightly smaller.)
Now, in the Halo 4 trailer, you can see the edge of the object and you can see the opening on the front. Comparing the sizes of both, the opening woild have to be much larger than our own sun.
Oh, by the way, I am not actualy sugesting that the Halo 4 Object is Trevelyan. Im just saying that if it is, then the size of the openinng is out of proportion.
I think I would rather see John’s past in flashbacks while he’s stuck going through the inside of that sphere if he’s there for a while. Just little bits and pieces, sort of like the instances of how Cortana popped up in Halo 3 every now and then until you found her. However, I guess I would see them as minor cut scenes which would probably end up being too time-consuming in the development of the game.
As for if he was found and given the option to read the file, I’m not sure he’d necessarily do so. So far, from how Naomi and Serin acted, it seems like the Spartans almost fear going back, reading that stuff, and being able to reflect on it.
I think when 343 talked about discovering more about John’s past it will be why he’s of the special Reclaimer Lineage and not simply just another normal human. I also believe he has Forerunner blue print inside of him like the ones mentioned in Cryptum

Astrogenesis, maybe it wasnt possible for them to accurately depict the size without taking away from the teaser, having a huge planet and a teensie tiny ship flying twards it may have given it a diffrent feeling then they wanted and im with you i would be disappointed too if it was on that planet unless since the interior is supposed to be huge maybe it would be like he crashed far away from everyone and the game was him trying to make his way through the planet getting to everyone else but who knows.

They just said that it would give more about his past than what has been given in previous games, not books. It’s the stuff from the books for players who haven’t read the books.
It has been stated that the object they’re being pulled into is a Planetoid which is too small to be a dominate planet but is larger than a comet. They fall under the dwarf planet category. This clearly means it is far smaller than a Dyson Sphere.
