How was removing Jetpack from Arena a bad thing?

Personally, I find Arena way more fun now. It feels more competitive, because people are fighting on the same level, literally… Jetpack was just a nuisance because people would just pick up a Needle, grenade Launcher or Rockets and just rain down hell on people on the the ground… Poor little guys…

How is it a bad thing, then? I’d LOVE to hear.

Thanks!

It wasn’t, anyone who says otherwise doesn’t understand competitive gaming.

I’m not a competitive type of guy but I know Jetpack was a huge hinder to Arena gameplay with the soft kill zones.

You speak too general in words, perhaps “competitive-Halo” or “intense competitive settings” would be more fitting.

A more rational answer is that the majority of players who wish to compete with each other on a more intense level would rather not have JP as the need to consider pathfinding is greatly reduced on a map because of it.

JP is not bad for Halo as Halo has many gametypes and maps setup for different scenarios for Spartans to engage in combat with.
(My favourite gametype has always been Pro on Wizard/Warlock-type maps because of the symmetry, speed and precision required for the gametype, YET NEVER has Pro been the gametype to which Halo must always be judged by or played.)

I thought the change didn’t go into effect until the 3rd.

Correct, the April update won’t go live until April 3rd.

Oh, I guess I was confused because he said he found arena “way more fun now.” I guess he meant he anticipates it will be more fun now. I hope it will be as well and look forward to trying out out.

Ya sometimes “they” forget such things.

But let’s be honest, those that play Arena, ZB and MLG tend to play those as their “core” list and anything else is “casually played” to them. That isn’t to say they don’t play to win in the other gametypes, I mean that they play those gametypes much less often than TS, Objective and Multiteam.

And those that play TS, Objective and MT as their “core” lists really only play Arena “casually.” And again it’s not they don’t play to win, it’s that they don’t play it “core.”

And fortunately “core playing” is really the heart of most decisions made to the playlists recently.
Unfortunately that means a lot players feel like they’re caught up in the “casual vs competitive” arguement when really they’re caught up in the casually played vs the core played situations.

its not getting caught up between casualy played and hardcore played, what we’re getting caught up in is people screaming at there top of there lungs trying to dictate how the game should be …

343i just needs to stop listening … they’d get a better rep from not listening then to listen because its widely accepted that the halo forum community is just a bunch of whining narcistic -Yoinks!- so listening to them is just going to give 343i a bad rep …
