How Warden Eternal could've been more awesome

I’m aware everyone is feels that fighting Warden Eternal is frustrating as hell, especially more than once after defeating him, but I just thought of an idea that makes me reason that I would’ve been glad to fight him if he had the following traits that were different to the next battles: (particularly in the campaign).

For the first time Osiris meets Warden, I would keep that battle the way it was.

Next Chief meets him and he is similar to defeat, however…

As Warden experienced the battles of both teams he should’ve improved his combat against both of them in different ways. (A Forerunner tradition of learning enemy motives and skills and how to respond/attack)

Osiris battle 2: The next time Warden collided with Osiris he would’ve remembered how they defeated him and he would’ve used different strategies to try and beat Osiris (you the player obviously). One such way of doing this could’ve been separating the squad by selective remote teleportation (forerunner technology) and tormenting them with Prometheans while surrounded by darkness. Eventually the squad reunite but Warden appears amongst them in his darkness and the light may disappear at his will or his own defeat. So occasionally he might do that a few times to Osiris for 10 second periods
at the minimum. Bonus: and after let’s say beating him they fall down the side of a Guardian, who knows right?

Chief battle 2: Warden could fly!!! What I’m trying to say here, is Warden, being such an interesting character, could actually have highly advanced customisable upgrades of himself with different with more ferocious appearances. This battle he could’ve lifted the ground from beneath your feet and summon slips pace portal traps for Chief to watch out for. Warden could’ve also easily grabbed his opponents (Chief) mid air and strangle him while his team mates have a time limit to rescue him.

See how I’m mixing this up? These battles sound different t to the last. Problem is, Warden isn’t properly defeated. He gets stronger each time is is while using other bodies at his disposal. This is what 343 should’ve done. Play Kingdom Hearts and you’d understand that fighting the same boss can actually still be fun. All the boss needs is a different approach to killing you.

Later battles etc… While his skills become more challenging.

Now, Warden’s last battle with Chief. (Blue vs Warden x 3) could’ve actually been a much better battle. What could’ve happened, rather then Warden attempting to kill you with a few of the same bodies (because he’s tried that before) is perhaps use holograms of himself that appear in different locations to trick you.

Imagine walking into a wide area full of mirrors on all sides. Imagine a Warden was amongst one of his holograms and you had to quickly figure out which one was the real Warden before he strikes. Then once he strikes, or if he’s found and you stop him from projecting fake holograms of himself, he then could have wings and grab you, throw you up in to the sky and he might try to melee you in the air. If you are quick enough you could melee him back while landing safely back on the ground. Otherwise, Warden could then even use his original bodies to spawn for even a few seconds simply to torment you… Or even then he could use all his skills from all battles fought to make it the ultra battle. He may even shift walls…

If you don’t agree with this idea I don’t blame you. But it still would’ve been a way cooler ending fight of cutscenes rather than when Cortana pats Warden on the back like a puppy to stop him. Seriously.

You have got some brilliant ideas. The Warden is indeed a great villain and character. I would have loved to see the warden actually being the royal apprentice of the didact and his possessions. However I wish 343i took an approach similar to what you have stated. This would have been a fun challenge and many more would have actually loved the warden fights. You possess great knowledge in creative boss fights.

Dude, great post. I feel Warden could have had more attacks the more you faced him, introducing new tactics in the way you handled the battles each time, on top of having multiple wardens. The bosses felt like you understood him too much. As Vas would say “Have I ever told you the definition of insanity?”. Warden really needs a make over if they add him in the next game. He’s a good boss, a good villain! But underdeveloped. (Also the campaign being shorter with filler missions being where you wander in the middle of a Swords camp kinda threw things off a bit and I don’t get why they did that but MOVING ON).

And these are just the base model ideas of what could’ve been.

Hopefully he’s not straight up GONE…I wanna know where the hell he came from.
Maybe they can implement this into Halo 6 now that Cortana has full control of everything.

Great ideas and maybe the hunters can have more motives instead getting more aggressive and different fire rates.

The Wardon is A manifistation of Cortana’s. Noticed how she used him to test the Chief, n not red team, they oddly were not worthy as Cortana is in luv with the Chief n visa versa. Cortana is part of Halsey or the other way too. So the Chief according to the Librarian is genetically different. How and why, not the Sparton proccess. Why did Halsey personally pick the Chief? Cortana calls him lucky, why, because he maybe a precurser?Ancient humans were more advanced than currently, The Diadac didnt know at first the humans werent his real enemy but learned from his wife they were trying to save the universe from the flood. When the Diadac learned this, he still called humans his enemy but truly respected the Lord of Admerals and confessed to him he was afraid. The precursers had the cure for the flood but was lost with them. The librarian saved some flood spores to try to find a cure. you see the Chief is imune to the flood, precurser maybe, what ever the librarian, Halsey and Cortana know. That and his luck or physcokinetic like abilities and Halseys unexplained knowledge of John and foundness is like she is a precurser and John her real son born to lead n save all. Is that why the beginning starts with a preminition from Halsey and UNSC or oni and Lockes real agenda and she was the one who saved cortana from AI death. You all saw here doing something to Cortana and what she said, yep, precurser, the ancient humans had equal knowledge and could have survived by disabling 5 of the twelve rings and thus according to 043 only destroyed what they knew of. Yes many questions and some hints. We will find out on Sanghelious and the catstrophically effected outer Colonies were a new good guy and anew eneimy, ONI Go after Blue team, Halsey, Cortana and the MC, maybe even the Arbitor, We do know Locke is an ONI assasin.bedabebedabe, thats all folks, C U soon my HALO family,;~}PS; I think ONI wants the flood for a secret weapon and we know the only ones who can stop this insane greedy politically corrupt powerful division inside of the UNSC, We all know the movie alian and promethious and who directed them, Scotie my pal Ridley Scott;~]

great post, it’s pretty much what I’ve been saying to my friends since it released. Even different weapons, have one warden with a sword, another with a gravity hammer varient, so on.

in terms of boss battles in general I wished they enabled you to fight that covenant leader at the start (his name escapes me), or even have teams fight each oth er (some boss fight setting where you have to face chief after playing as him for so many games) would have made it more emotionally investing as well.

but yeah again great post. I more than welcome the boss battles but hope they add more to it like you’ve suggested.

I’ve been thinking the same thing too. If you’re going to use the same boss more than once it’s better to have him constantly change tactics and/or take on a more powerful appearance making him much more of a challenge.

You my friend, is another brilliant idea. That cutscene with Jul M’dama could’ve actually been a boss battle between him and Osiris. This could still be accomplished… How, by 343 cutting the cutscene in half then between the first half and second half of the cutscene, a boss battle could take place. Something resembling Tarturus would’ve been at least descent.

Hunters are a key as they are a colony of killer worms apart of the flood that breed spores becoming the worms that control your through the gravemind. That is how the early Covenant was introduced to the pre current Arbitor through 043. Did U C nightfall and the killer hunter worms known to Randal 037the former spartan, now Aikin? Jul Andama my friend, is that the Covy leader u seek? I have worked or ground down the Wardon, did a Sparton charge and was assasinating him 9 times and killed by either enemy or friendly fire each time. All my Wardon kills are assasinations, I think for this boss only, you have to have invincability frames during a well earned assasination. One thing odd, three disconnects immediatly or during the assasinationof the Wardon. Theator showed it but not carnage report, definatily a glitch but horrible timing. Story mod, no problem even when 3. I Go to a tower by way of springboard , blast one, then a sparton pound n a fast B. Grab another weapon from the rack right behind you then and repeat. You can bypass the fight entirely here if you sacrifice blue team.Just jump to the platform with a mid jump boost. Blue team shows up as you land, had to clammer once too. Timing boost is critical. btw the Arbitor and maybe JUL can defeat the wardon in a straight up fight, I actualy measured the hits taken in the Sanghelious battle by the arbitor on legendary. Im pretty sure if the Wardon was hit from behind it would be an easy win for the arbitor and his swords and war cries. Only cat tougher than the arbitor, Cortana, clearly the badest cat in the game but allas no fight directly but the wardon is her manifetation.Hey, what if the hunters turned into a pac of worms, crazed to kill not just one at atime but all close

I just feel like if I’m playing Legendary Solo and i’m running around for 10 seconds in darkness I WILL die, and I WILL lose my mind.

Spartan abilities or even additional armour abilities could’ve been useful to counter attack and survive
