How useful is sliding? When do you use it?

In my never ending quest to continually improve my skills in this amazing game, I find myself always dissecting the gameplay in an effort to use the best Spartan moves in any given scenario.

My least used move is the slide. I sometimes use it to confuse enemies and there is one map(forgot the name) where you can use it to slide below a small opening. Otherwise I mostly rely on my other moves. Curious how some of the Halo 5 players use it here. Please provide some tips as far as sliding is concerned  Thanks

I think sliding trumps a Spartan Charge, no ? Someone did this to me and killed me while I was charging someone. You can also dodge bullets head on like Matrix.

That sounds interesting thank you, I will certainly try that.

I usually try to use it for the thruster launch, however inconsistent it may be. I don’t think I really use it though when in engagements.

Depends what game type, I use it quite a bit in breakout along with spartan charge. For games like swat, I don’t use slide, ground pound or charge, even sprint for that matter. I guess it’s all about adapting.

I mostly use it to dodge sniper/shotgun fire, and to enter a room sometimes just because it’s unexpected.

These tips. I want to try slide now, and use the secret slide escape into other room thing

I use it to slide into bases in Warzone just because it looks cool. That’s it.

+1 Like to all thank you for the tips

@Meek Meek Meek I remember a friend explaining this to me a little, so you mean you use thrusters at the end of the slide, correct? Sorry to sound silly, but could you elaborate a little on that? I’d like to know what advantage there is to doing a slide before the thrusters?(I mean is it just to mix it up a little, add more travel distance, etc.) Thanks

I use it in breakout a lot, but for whatever reason it never accurs to me in slayer or other game types.

I always do sprint > slide > jump > thrust when entering a room (any gametype). It feels so smooth to do that. Try mixing it in to your movement in a match - also try and learn some easy trick jumps to incorporate into your map flow.

As a slide note- have you ever slid by instinct when a vehicle hits a ramp and jumps over you? You go right under it if timed right and feels like a scene in an action movie. Obviously the situation is really rare and seems to only happen naturally. Slide mechanic won me over when that happened to me!

I always slide into the club, works great there.

I use it to pick up power ups.

There is a physics exploit/stack that works with sloped surfaces. Lets say you are on flat ground, and at a point there is a ramp going downwards. For this to work, you need to turn off maintain sprint and toggle crouch.

Begin sprinting. As you approach the ramp, thruster forward a couple feet before the ramp and then try to slide. At some point in the slide, you can jump to get extra momentum.

A tutorial video that someone made.

Wow sounds cool, I like the way you think

It’s great for SWAT and breakout because it’s a great, very sudden shift in your position in a gametype where kill times are extremely fast. It can make a big difference there. In other gametypes I use it to get into cover when I don’t have a thruster boost left.

Never use it same as using aim on autos don’t see the point really

I use it when I want to swiftly move from one side of a doorway to another. It’s good, too, for quickly getting into cover. I love the sprint, spartan charge, slide, jump, and thruster pack combo to move quicker to a base during warzone!
