I was listening to the new samples for the Volume 2 Soundtrack, and it really saddens me how this beautiful soundtrack got buried by the sound effects and voice acting during gameplay. I wish 343 could add new audio options in a future TU, but honestly, given that there are many other things they have to fix/think about, I’m sure they won’t do such a thing because they have other priorities.
Yeah, I know that even the Halo games made by Bungie didn’t have audio options, but at least there the mixing was excellent!
I’m definitely purchasing the volume 2. The tracks were too good. I wish they were more audible through the game.
When is it going to be released, b/c i really haven’t been paying attention to the soundtrack lately, but i would like to hear and hope its good.

I’d say the mixing was excellent for Halo 1-3(ODST)and went downhill with Reach and staid downhill with Halo 4.

The soundtrack will be released the 9th of April, and here you can listen the samples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HLpxWtkFTE
Also, I forgot to say this in the OP, at least they fixed the mixing in Spartan Ops!
I thought Halo 1-3 had the best soundtracks including ODST. Reach’s soundtrack was pretty good too but didn’t top the original 3 games. Halo 4’s soundtrack just really didn’t do it for me unfortunately.
Why did they split the soundtrack into two parts? Are they trying to get more money, or was there some legitimate reason behind this?

Well, 343i didn’t have all the songs from the game in the first OST release, and people complained loud enough to have them make a Volume 2. Bungie did the same thing with Halo 2, which is why there are 2 Halo 2 OSTs
