How to use the hardlight shield effectively?

Okay so a couple days ago I used the hardlight shield on Dominion (not in any custom loadout) and someone shot me up close with their shotgun and BOOM, the shotgun pellets bounced back at him and lol he killed himself. After that iv been wanting to figure this AA out a more.

So how do I use it effectively? The only time I picture myself using this is when I need to get to a nearby place while under fire.

Effective use

Okay those two vids were AWESOME!! Lol, why aint more people using this?!

Hardlight shield can be pretty effective especially of you have a button layout where you can use both sticks and AA simultaneously.

Not only does it stop most weapons fire it can also redirect it back at the opponent. It’s roughly at a 45 degree angle and is very hard to pull off unless its a CQC weapon like the scattershot but very rewarding watching someone kill themselves.

It also has the ability to make plasma nades disappear if used correctly.

I personally don’t use it a lot cause I use bumper jumper which kinda limits my AAs to stuff like pro vis and turret but I have seen some really effective and crazy -Yoink- done with the shield.

In team play it has more uses ie:
A riot shield for your team to hide behind or to keep an enemy occupied until teammates arrive to help you out.

Halo 4 Mythbusters have some clips related to the shield that are worth watching.

Hope this info was helpful.

Nice vids. I honestly haven’t given this AA a chance.

The Hardlight shield is probably the ultimate AA in this game but it is hard to use and EXTREMELY underrated. It just require patience and fast timing.

It can repel Scorpion shells and I think Mantis rockets too.

One use I find is really valuable is if your team is trapped with the other team providing heavy fire, just send out a team member with a hardlight shield and the opposing team will focus their fire on that player, then the rest of your team can pop out and get some shots on the opposing team.

You can also use the Hardlight Shield to defend yourself from projectiles (obviously). If you have helpful teammates, you can use the Shield to buy yourself the extra few seconds you need for them to arrive and to stop an opponent from killing you.

In Spartan Ops, everybody rushes to kill enemies as fast as they can, so Hardlight Shield will be very useful in Ops if you want to stay alive. I’ve also used the Shield to deflect many power weapon blasts in War Games, such as Railgun and Incineration Cannon shots, and even the Mantis.

Because a majority of the community are stuck with one mindset that if its not like halo 1-3 or wasn’t in its combat system originally its automatically broken even if it can be fixed and its not actually the new addition as a whole there mad at just like 3 abilities out of the eight but because it has 3 bad things the whole system or set of good AA’s are out at least that how I interpret the way a majority of people who bash AA’s think from interacting with hem since reach

Sorry iPod double post but yea it gets so much hat and out of the golden 3 AA’s its the most hated. Really the communities or a majority of it’s opinions on AA’s in general need to change especially on hard light .

I use the Hardlight shield for a variety of things heres a quick list that might help.

Getting to cover-If under fire and you see a good spot to get to,but the way there is under fire activate shield and face hostiles quickly sidestep your way to destination.

Grenades-Hostile grenades are a problem a sticky is impossible to get off so your doomed if it hits you, but if your reaction time is quick enough activate shield so it reflects sticky grenade sometimes if by luck (note this has happened to me)the sticky grenade will bounce off and land on a enemy soldier. A frag grenade can take you down fast if your shields are down, so when one lands near you activate Hardlight and face frag grenade.

Vehicles-The Hardlight shield can reflect anytype of Covenant, UNSC, or Forerunner round, meaning if you have fast enough reaction time you can survive a direct hit. During bootcamp me and 3 other Spartans tested the Hardlight shield during training. We found out that you can redirect most rounds fired from a vehicle most easiest ones to redirect and use to your advantage is the Gauss round and the Scorpion round I have seen the redirected rounds take out other enemy hostiles or even take out the vehicle firing the round.

Tips while using Hardlight
-When in the Flood training simulation I would not suggest using Hardlight it can block a swing if your lucky, but after that you can get outnumbered or if they are quick enough can easily get around you. Boom your dead.

-If under heavy fire and you are in the open and your shields are half way down or down, but your heardlight is still up use it to back up and get to cover behind you. Going left or right will only leave you pinned. And if you try to wait for your shield to regenerate while having no cover your enemies will wait you out or hunt you down. So remember “Your not retreating your just making a tactical advance in the other direction!”

Hope this information helps you use your Hardlight better Spartan!

I use it for crossing open areas in Dominion or BTB.
