How to use the AR.

Anyone have any pointers? I’m just getting run over tryin to get the mastery. Playlist? Loadout?

Obviously only use it in close quarters. Try using it on Dominion and Team Slayer. Also try using Hologram to get the jump on your enemy, then open fire. The Assualt Rifle is my favorite weapon.

Aim and spray. Dont forget to aim.

I’ve mopped up a few kills from mid range(about from the pelican on Valhalla to the cliff) multiple times with the AR, works surprisingly well at range as long as you don’t let the reticule get too much bigger than the target/ burst fire.

I play slayer now, but the thing just takes so long to kill, anyone who can aim kills me first at any range. I’ll try the holo thing tho!

team regicide. stay by the king. If you dont get kills with it ull get assists also, be cool and throw down a regen field for you king? or an auto sentry…? nevermind that thing.

You need to make sure that you’re curve-jumping, just, all the time. Even when you’re not fighting people you need to be jumping. Also, when you spray you need to wiggle your reticle around vigorously. Up and down, side to side, diagonal, just all over the place. You should be aiming for the nut region. Dexterity will turn the AR into a SAW, so put that crap on there and just spray and jump and wiggle until you’re out of ammo. NOW GO GET EM!

Works like a charm for me.

Havent played much with AR, but I have seen it used efectively and discussed at lengnth with others.

  1. avoid team based games because a) teamshot will drop you faster than you can kill anything, b) teammates can easily steal your kills with a headshot the moment enemies shields are low… Regicide is your best option

  2. loadout should include AR, plasma pistol, frags, jetpack.

Jetpack: If you could engage enemies with superior angles… and fight 1 enemy at a time, you will have more success with AR.

Plasma pistol: if you are good at overcharge, great… but peppering off shields with rapid fire plasma then switch to your AR

frags: same reason, anything to get your enemy’s shield down faster is always good

  1. avoid maps with vehicles, unless you get good at overcharging them, jet packing above them and ARing them to death.

FFA Regicide. Just maxed my AR in there. Also great for getting nade kills. Hologram is great for throwing people of when they turn a corner and jetpack is good for going around corners and avoiding a boltshot. Stealth is great since a lot of people use PV in there but dexterity is good as well. Got about 600 AR kills and 100 frag kills today alone in there.

My loadout:
AR
Boltshot
Frags
Hologram/Jetpack
Extra grenades
Stealth

My long time and most successful AR loadout was:

Assault Rifle
Magnum
Frag
Thruster Pack
Mobility
Dexterity

Run run run some more, get close and pepper.

As above: Grenade for shields, or pistol when you run out, or even melee was my favourite using the infinite run to get the drop on people, and keep closing the gap. Most people when they start using the AR will forget to strafe, but if you strafe and charge while firing people get really messed up.

At mid range (strafing usually) try to stay to something like 5 round bursts. This ensures that when you do close the gap you have the capacity to open up. It also helps when something unexpected happens. I would consider ‘mid range’ in this context to be something like… from a side double ramp to the centre of Haven.

While I agree for a general rule team games can result in a lot of assists, if you get on maps like Adrift or Abandon in Team Slayer you can do well with the Assault rifle. Just stick the areas you have the advantage. As an exception to the rule I would suggest KOTH because you can easily finish off multiples in CQC after you or your team mates are finished dropping some grenades in.

Excellent ideas so far. I am, if a say so myself, pretty good at halo. I know the basics pretty well. What I’m lookin for here is “insider tips” so to speak. Extra little things I can do to get kills
