How to unlock every REQ item in Halo 5 PROPERLY

If you already know how to do this, just keep on scrolling because this forum post is for the new players to Halo 5 and to the people who complain about spending $30 on REQ packs and getting rares to uncommons, etc. This is how you should unlock everything in Halo 5 properly.

To start off when you enter Halo 5, you’ll get 7500 RP, do not spend it on a silver! Instead, cash in on the Bronze ones first and continue. Doing this will allow you to unlock all of the grey coloured REQ cards such as armour, weapon certs etc…And hopefully a couple of Uncommons here and there. You’ll want to keep track of what you are unlocking by going into you REQ Collection and see if you have unlocked all of the commons. Once you have done that, there is no need to keep buying Bronze packs. Time to move up to Silver!

Each Silver pack is 5000 RP so I suggest you play a lot of Warzone, it gives you a lot of RP and XP. Silver packs contain uncommon (Green) and rare (Blue) REQS, grind to earn them all, which may take a while, every now and then check your progress in your REQ Collection to see how many more REQS you need to unlock. Once you are done will the uncommon and rare REQS, move up to the Gold Packs.

Gold packs are 10000 RP and contain Ultra Rare (Purple) and Legendaries (Gold), as before, GRIND Warzone to earn RP and XP and collect all of the REQS.

For purchasable packs, if you want to, you can spend some actual money to get some Golds but MAKE sure you have all of the low tier stuff unlocked first because you’ll ahem wasted your money then. Thxs for reading

This is essentially the noob guide to Halo 5: Guardians. Heh. All you Rank 10’s out there, follow this guide.

good post

I will occasionally buy a gold pack here and there when I save a bunch of points. Granted you take a chance at some low level cards, but I usually have pretty good luck on an ultra rare or legendary item.

I just paid cash and played a lot. I’m horrible :frowning:

You will know when you are done with whatever tier you are on when it starts giving you req points back instead of giving you permanent unlocks. For instance when done with bronze it will give you 2 cards with 300 req points each, silver 2 cards with 1500 req points each, and gold 2 cards with 3000 req points each.

Strait to the point. Thanks!
To clarify, ALL commons are available via bronze pack? i.e. it’s best to stay with bronze packs until I have most/all commons unlocked?

Yes, then move on to buying silver

I think/hope this is pretty much common sense now.

There is no common sense about this. That implies that it’s based on some past experience, which for Halo, there is none. I think you mean commonly known which may be true for the community at large. However, for an online community to remain alive, new gamers need to be picking up the game as other gamers leave. It’s for that group that this information is geared towards. Thankfully there are still new people getting into Halo 5(such as myself) for which this post is very useful, unlike your post.

Keep the love for this thread up guys!

Ummm, has anyone mathematically proven that it is worthwhile to spend RP on Bronze packs?

For 1250 RP, you get the CHANCE at a single common permanent req.
For 5000 RP, you get two GUARANTEED common-rare permanent reqs.

From my personal experience, the drop rate for a permanent unlock in a Bronze pack is less than 50% which would mean that mathematically, Silver packs are a better option to immediately start buying.

In one Silver pack, you get 2 common-rare permanent unlocks.
In four Bronze packs, you get less than 2 common permanent unlocks.

That’s what I thought also. I did a mix of the two. A few bronze packs every once in a while, but mainly silver.

I’m rank 72, and I only need about 20 silver packs now. I think that I got through it pretty efficiently.

I have had the same experience but some things are exclusively in bronze packs.

I found that (1) bronze pack would result in worse odds, but if I saved up 5k and bought (4) at once I would tend to get 3/4 drops. Even better in sets of (10) ten. But I sadly wanted top tier gear early and spent the first 30+ levels buying gold only so I had a few good things but mainly wasted time.

I didn’t realize there was a proper way to do it. I guess I will push ‘a’ with my pinky up from now on.

This isn’t about what is proper, but what is more efficient. The proper way to do it is however someone decides to do it. The more efficient way may be as you describe.

I have to say tho, having a few banshees in the bank (before the daily win packs started up and gave out randoms) was a nice way to spend 10k, esp since the WZ packs gave out junk.

From my experience and telling others to do it the same way opening all bronze until you start getting req points only, then follow the same with silver and gold is the best way to get the more premium gear.

You can even save yourself a pack by knowing you’ve completed bronze packs when you get the Nadir Emblem, and you’re done with the silvers when you get the GaussHog (I believe).

Most efficient method. There are quite a few google doc spreed sheets that lay this strategy in all of its boringly efficient detail
