OK, so I have decided to transition over to Bumper Jumper from default. Since I have tried this before and failed, is there are better way to make this work ?
The last time I used Bumperjumper my game was in the tank for days and I finally decided to revert back to default (took me 3 days). But I feel that I cannot do certain things with the default layout.
I went into custom last night and started to get used to it but it feel so weird for me and was wondering if there were any tricks to speed this up?
You just gotta get use to it bro. It’s all bout muscle memory tbh and sticking with it is the only way you’ll achieve this.
Practicing in a custom game won’t really help as when your actually in a real game and under a little pressure your brain will react before you can think and you’ll just press the buttons you are most used to to input commands. It’s just a matter of persevering through the tough times and eventually your brain will learn the new button commands and things will be ok.
Every player that’s switched to a alternate button layout has had to go through all the same teething problems so don’t let it defeat you and you’ll be golden.

Spot on.
I play Slayer mostly and dont like to lose. But when I think back, this whole process would have been done by now. Its just aggravating.
If you are a competitive player like me, just play in warzone for a day or to and get accustomed to it. I switched to Bumper Jumper back in Halo 3 and have never tried another controller scheme since. Since Warzone screams casual it’s my favorite playlist to mess around in so I would suggest it until you build your muscle memory up.

Instead of completely switching to bumper jumper why not just remapping some of the buttons from the default controller. That way you only have to relearn maybe 2 or 3 buttons. That’s what I did for my FISHSTICK schemes, because I wanted LB to be my jump, I swap A with LB. LB use to be thruster for me.

Update: So yesterday I spent about 2 hours running around and getting used to Bumper Jumper. It really is so different from the default. Then I played 4 games last night and was close to 1st in kills and was first in one game. A few of my kills were jump aiming, which was the reason for the change. I was pretty happy.
The was I will go with the same plan today. Go into custom and jump around before I play a ranked game. I am just no fan of Warzone or any campaign.
An update, the minute I posted that I would use Bumper jumper I still cannot do the things I could do in default. However I can do a couple more things. My placement in matches is decent. Still do not feel comfortable with Bumper Jumper but its coming along 3 days later.
This was more for my record. If you could care less, move on.

Thats exactly it. I went into Plaza and Empire and was just jumping around. The jump and clamber… and thruster is what i miss constantly.
Another update: Yesterday I actually has a couple game that I could put together and the last few Slayer game Ii played I was back to 1st place again. But overall the transition was a pain in the -Yoink-. Would I recommend Bumper Jumper to someone else ? …I cant really answer that yet. For me this will take a week to transition over and there is no turning back. Im still trying to figure out why Bumper Jumper is better than default. But there is no reward if you do not take the risk.
its all personal preference. you dont HAVE to use bumper jumper…I use the Halo 4 setting for H5 and still do well. Do what feels right, dont force yourself to use something that feels awkward.
BJ is definitely the best for super competitive play.
Play through the entire campaign on Heroic or Legendary. That will allow you to have fun, get used to it, and not wreck your MP experience.
Also, I would suggest that you tweak it a little bit using the xbox accessories app that allows you to remap buttons. Start with bumper jumper, but map thrust to the left stick and crouch to X.
Thrust is really the only mid-combat move that you won’t have access to without taking your thumb off the stick in bumper jumper. So once you make this tweak you’ll be good to go and able to do all mid-combat moves while still aiming. Thrusting in the middle of at 1 v 1 to get a reversal with no shields makes you feel bossy.

Right, but there is a benefit to using Bumper Jumper. You can freely use the right stick instead of pressing jump over and over. It feels awkward to me but it just takes time. I am used to the Halo 4 config too but finally adjusted to the default. But, I think it will be an advantage in the long run?
