Well, after considerable amount of time playing Warzone and WZ Assault. I realized something regarding how to tell if it’ll be a join-in progress or a fresh match.
You see, when you start warzone the background is of a few spartans fighting a Knight. If the background changes to that of the map youre about to play on as soon as everyone is found, then it’ll be a fresh match. (There may be a delay)
But if the background is still that of the Spartans vs Knight up to the last few seonds of the final countdown before the match starts (it occaisonally changes at the very last two seconds of the countdown before the screen goes black and the map loads) then you’re about to join a game in-progress
Same thing happens with WZ Assault and BTB. (just replace the default background on those modes instead of the spartans vs knight one.)
I found this is especially helpful in knowing when I should use a boost for a fresh match or a jackpot (since in-game progress doesnt affect those)
This is good intel. I’ll be watching out for this.
I hadn’t seen that pattern…thanks for the helpful post!
I’ve noticed that if the game is starting with an empty spot in it that means I was joining a game in progress
What a minute detail. Thanks for the heads up.
Never noticed that. I always went off if the match loaded really fast then im putting into a game.
I know this is a bump. And a pretty big one at that, but I’ve been testing this after the recent update and it still looks like this works.
Perhaps this can save some of you from using a req boost at the wrong time.
So the relevancy is still here.

Boost cards are no longer used if it is a jip game. And there is a better way. No timer = jip.
Thanks for the heads up!
Edit: didn’t realise someone had necro’ed this, my bad.
Yeah, I think it’s been that way since the beginning.

necros are generally only looked down upon if it’s something entirely irrelevant brought up months after it died. Usually by recruits. There have been times when something is bumped for a meaning. Like because why make a new thread on something that already exists? (Or perhaps I’m on Neogaf too much.)

I’ve personally never noticed that. But what I have noticed is two spartans with guns while waiting for a match of grifball to start.
