How to teamkill without getting booted

Several times now I’ve been playing BTB, where I grab the snipe and sit somewhere to get some good shots, then someone on my team comes up behind me and does a spartan charge. This drains my shields AND knocks me out of position, usually forcing me to drop somewhere that I can get 1 shot really easy. The other team technically kills me and my teammate takes my sniper.

Something needs to be done about this, it is really stupid that I have to deal with this as much as I do.

Either the boot system needs to be really strict, or friendly fire needs turning off

I’ve had somebody do that to me and I just return the favor. I will follow them around and shoot them just enough to keep their shields down until they get shot. Or i just betray them.

This isnt directly related to your issue, but I do agree OPs situation sucks, but I just dont know if you can do too much about it.

During slayer matches yesterday I betrayed two people in the same match (by complete mistake) and I didnt get kicked (I wasnt even getting the announcer to say “betrayal”, which was even stranger to me). The only thing I can think of is the few times I did it yesterday, they were in a gun fight (I didnt know this) and I tossed a grenade in the room and killed my teammate. Maybe under certain conditions it doesnt count as a betrayal?

This guy in breakout killed me because I got the BR. My teammate Spartan charged me, obviously trying to kill me. I thought it was a one off, but its happened with multiple games, and different people. I have not been given the option to boot them at all, and its frustrating. I grind for a decent K/D, and it irritates me that selfish people would eliminate a teammate for a weapon. The thing is, most often they fail to use it. I think the booting in breakout, and other game types, needs to be more profound. I don’t think friendly fire is a good thing. it encourages people to betray.

it wouldnt count as a betrayal if the other team shot them first and put any damage on them, then your bullets or grenades finished them off. ive done this to mess with my buddies specifically when we goof off in our parties ill wait till they are already shot before i melee them then -Yoink!- them. an yes i only do that to my friends cause we arent try hards

I really hate it. My teammate killed me just for the freaken spartan laser. And he eventually ended up dying by the enemy banshee in guillotine.

dood…this drives me CRAZY! It’s the worst in breakout. I know the little shortcuts to get to the BR or DMR faster and kids get PISSED. One kid the other day killed me EVERY round after I got the BR twice in a row…EVERY ROUND. He would then proceed to get the BR and die within seconds. I just report people that do stuff like that. I never got an option to boot them (and Ive never seen it in any game type, but breakout is THE WORST). Honestly I’m not really sure id even do it in breakout because of the sever disadvantage being down one really is.

This would make sense then…I thought for sure after the second time I was -Yoinked!- LOL Ive never had that problem before, I guess i was just having some -Yoink- luck.

A “betrayal” is where you inflict over 80% of damage and then have the final blow on them, or at least that’s how it is set up, but the system is flawed.

I agree, being one down in breakout is a severe disadvantage. No friendly fire perhaps? Something should be done, its really a problem. I report, but I doubt it goes anywhere.

the problem is really just solved by turning off friendly fire. i don’t get the point of it when there are so many -Yoinks!- in the gaming community, it does basically nothing for gameplay, as the number of “accidental” betrayals from carelessness is negligble and not worth considering as a gameplay mechanic. the only place it might work is warzone, and that’s the one place without friendly fire. (thank god, the req stealing would be insane.) the number of on purpose betrayals has to be over 95% of total betrayals.

Link to thread.

i made a suggestion for something to punish the player who does the teamkilling or damaging and the player gets compensated for it in my thread. a means to deter people from doing that.

My favourite accidental betrayal moment was in the HCS playlist.

Me and my buddies are in a party and just finished losing a game 50-24 and we were all “let’s start this next game strong.”

We get TS on Lockdown. We spawn BR tower and my buddy right away rushes for sniper. I instinctively nade sniper not even thinking. the nade flies, goes off the wall, and blows up the canister right new to my friend and we start the game -1 within 5 seconds. All you hear is silence for a minute and my friend say “Now I know why we lost last game. He was trying to kill the wrong -Yoinking!- team.” No one could move for like 20 seconds we were laughing so hard.

I tend to report (seems pointless) then block via xbl, I believe it then won’t match you with that player.
