How to system link?

hey fellow halo community I need some assistance. I am having a get together at my place and I don’t know how to system link halo reach to have a lan party. I am on Xbox one and we have 2 xbox ones. Please help

System Link with Halo Reach should be pretty auto-magic. Running the game on Xbox One back compat is just like running it on a 360. You can even mix and match 360 and Xbox One Back Compat consoles in the same games.

Just give them all ethernet connectivity and you should be all set!

May be a bit too late since he posted this in March.

Hopefully he was planning his get-together 7 months in advance

True, let’s hope so.

For future reference before this thread gets locked, you must meet the following requirements. This only applies for backwards compatible games and NOT Xbox One games. To my knowledge, the Xbox One doesn’t seem to support System Link at a software level i.e the majority of Xbox One games don’t support it, despite being physically capable of doing so.

  • Xbox One’s CANNOT System Link over WiFi. They MUST be using an Ethernet cable.
  • A direct Ethernet connection from Xbox to Xbox can work.
  • You CAN use any combination of Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One’s up to the amount your router supports.
  • Xbox One X is supported and follows the same rules as above.
  • You do NOT need an Xbox Live connection for this to work and local profiles can be used (Xbox and Xbox 360 titles ONLY)

WiFi on the Xbox One will always turn up a NAT error and blame the other consoles.

Disclaimer - I have not tried the MCC’s recently implemented version of System Link yet as I do not have the means to do so. I’ll let another user confirm whether it works without requiring an Xbox Live connection (TheLegendary117, you up to the task? :D).

NOT ANY MORE. Doese not work as easy as someone who works for Microsoft might think. Iv be fighting to get an exciting Halo experience since the game came out, and Everytime I think I got something fun I find out it isn’t quite what I thought it was. Let me start with reach and how I thought forge world would allow for AI spawn points so you can turn a forged map into a figherfight map. Am I the only one? -Yoink- no. Everyone remembers 007 golden eye!! That’s why C,O,D, is so popular. U don’t need to be online to fight waves of varying difficulty AI. But NO. Now here is is I have no idea how many years later (mostly cause I don’t care) and I wanna set up a system link game with my boys and for some reason we can’t join. But of course all these old messages say ya it’s easy just linkup and join. Utter BS from Halo community as usual.
