How to stop quitters

After an online game, do the following:

  • press Select
  • scroll down to a player that quit
  • press X
  • select Gamercard
  • select Report or block
  • select Report
  • select Quitting early
  • select Report
  • repeat for ever other quitter

There are way too many quitters out there, making games play out worse, and forcing more players to JIP. Quitting every now and then is fine, but by reporting quitters consistently we will make sure the habitual quitters will have some sort of consequence (outside of Halo) to try and change their behavior.

Please don’t bring in a discussion on this thread about farming being the reason for people quitting. I’ve played at least 3 games today where most of the quitters were on the winning team. Losing big time sucks, but that isn’t every game. Don’t give the quitters rationale to keep doing what they do.

If they were quitting while winning, there’s a good chance they just disconnected, which is to an extent out of their control.

Habitual quitters ruin games for non quitters.

You do realize after quiting 2-4 times within the time span of two or three days gets you the banhammer right? You should also no Halo 5’s servers or connection is so bad people are disconnected from games no matter what they wanted or did. Many quitters are normally not quitters but people who simply disconnect from the game as I have experienced it multiple times and gotten banned for it as do the people you say “regularly” quit which is pretty much impossible.

I see that response all the time. There’s no way it’s that pervasive of a problem, forcing 6 people to leave a game.

But really, there’s no way of knowing for sure. We can only go off of what we know and have experienced. Personally I’ve only been kicked/disconnected once over the past 3 months. If I get reported for that one game, nothing bad is going to happen to me. Even if I had to quit a few games in addition to that - 4 reports for quitting early is not going to do anything to me.

Report people for quitting. It will only effect the habitual quitters, which are the ones who could use a time out.

Yeah, I guess if you want to go that far, that’s what the option is there for. Totally in your rights to do so.
A bit too much work for me, though I guess if I cared more about my stats and Arena ranks, I’d want to see quitters get heavier consequences.

But we can’t be sure. Not to mention, excessive disconnects have the same end result as massive quitting. It’s sad that people may experience cinnection issues, but I do not want to play with or against such players.

Yes, I have had connection issues myself, in Reach O got to the point of being warned, at which point I stopped playing until I made sure my connection was stable. Everytime I disconnect twice in a short time span I check my connection. After a third disconnection Instop playing for the time being.

OT: Yes Indo report whenever I can, but I think the ban is a bad solution. Just have those who’d qualify for a ban be matched against each other instead. If you like yo quit alot then you shoulf play with likeminded players. Some other things included like no rewards for those matches and you need a set of consequtive games that are “clean” to start getting normal matches.

Soon to people like you their will only be a handle full of people playing Halo. Ban everyone so you can play by yourself. Don’t think it will happen… Sure when it’s 1-1 and a disconnect happens and then you get banned and reported. The ban hammer and people like you ruin games.

What if I’m incredibly lazy and don’t really care that much?

Here’s my question, how come better games don’t have quit bans? Think about it.

Could be people lagging out. They shouldn’t be punished for something that is out of there control.

I have to disagree to an extent. If it’s actually 343s servers then yes, give them the pass. But if it’s the players own connection and they consistently lag out then they shouldn’t be making it harder on their team mates. We already know halo has an online feature that requires Internet, we also already know they ban people for quits, lagouts, team killing, ect ect, and what do they all share in common? They all hurt the team. Even if it’s out of my control to upgrade my internet it still doesn’t make it right for me to keep playing knowing I may lag out and then cause my team to lose. It’s called manners, and I see it perfectly fine for 343 to ban lagouts if they continue giving their team mates the finger when they know they may lag out.

If if I lag out twice in a day then I call it quits for the day, majority of the time I rarely lag out tho.

This game is terribly optimised for anyone outside of the USA
just look at the over 300 page mega thread detailing problems from people from the uk and Australia in particular as a reference

I’d bet dollars to donuts that the people saying
“I’ve only had one disconnect in the past four months so it can’t be the game” are from America

here’s the real meat and potatoes of the issue
if 343i want to stop quitting they need to start offering a better service
a matchmaking system that puts teams vs teams instead of matching teams vs randoms
a matchmaking systems matching similarly skilled players

SELECTABLE DATA CENTRES
you know, the ones we were promised after the H5 beta by josh holmes?

i should not be forced into games with people from Texas while living in Australia and searching focused and yet…here we are
If I get into a game where enemy players are rubber banding, teleporting and straight up disappearing from my screen and it takes me three seconds to actually throw my grenade…I’m not staying in that game
If I’m not enjoying the game I’m going to quit…
H5 is a frustrating enough experience as it is without having to deal with everything else

Disconnecting is 95% of my dnf games.

343 Should implement a “join game in progress” cause sometimes people get disconnected for whatever reason but want to come back

Tell that to the people who support the Ban Hammer. Seriously 343 really screwed that up, we dealt with quitters just fine in Halo 3 without a banhammer and its not needed now.

I’ll tell you all a story.

Two days ago, I was playing Halo 3 Social Slayer. In a match on Valhalla, someone left immediately. This happens a lot, mostly because they are salty about the map/gametype. But that person was playing split screen, so the guest got pulled out too. Another person must have decided that they had enough of that crap being pulled all the time and got off the Xbox. So naturally, people knew that they wouldn’t win that game, so they ALL left. So it was just me. I didn’t leave because I was livid and wanted to mess up the other team’s KD if I was going to get the W.

BUT THEN, in the next game, on Valhalla, the same thing happened to the enemy team. There was only one person on the enemy team. Brought a tear to my eye. “I understand your frustration completely, I was just where you were.”…
I still went ballistic on him.

But anyways, unless you want that to happen to you, then yeah, report them. And go ahead and recommend the person that didn’t leave so that you’ll be paired with a non-quitter often.

You really shouldn’t be talking at all. Your whole argument is if your chances of lagging out or being disconnected from the server are 10% you should not play the game.

No I didn’t, learn to read. I said if you’re “consistently” lagging out, then you shouldn’t be playing online. I don’t give a damn if it sounds harsh either, no one has given a good reason why those who constantly lag out should get to then ruin other players experience.
