How to Stop Getting Hivemind?

Basically, the title asks it all, how do I stop getting hivemind so often?

I absolutely LOVE flood matches. Something about the fast paced, 1-hit kill either way, stay on your toes is just so extremely fun for me.

However, this hivemind mode is the exact opposite of what I like. It’s slow, sides are super uneven in power, and usually takes forever. I absolutely HATE hivemind, yet anytime it pops up, 95% of the players I see -Yoink- their pants and almost break their controllers mashing the button to vote for it.

What’s the big deal with it? I’ve had a few matches with it, some won, some lost, some coming in 1st. Maybe 8 or 10 total matches, and every single time, EVERY time, whether I won or lost, I didn’t have any fun. I just can’t stand that mode.

Just today, what set me off to make this thread, I had 20 minutes to get ready for work. 10 minutes went by just having to reinstall forge islands to play flood. I finally got it, and ended up in hivemind. The round timed out and I have like 5 minutes left. I just left the game. I didn’t have time to finish a hivemind game, so I wanted to try my luck at getting flood, so I re-entered the flood lobby. Sure enough, by the time it found players and started voting on the map, 5/8 votes were on hivemind. I just pressed home and dashboarded. Looked at the clock, and no more time to play was left.

So that’s my reason. How do I stop getting hivemind? Like I said, I love flood just as much as I hate hivemind, so I’m not willing to just give up flood matches. It’s like my favorite mode. I choose flood to play FLOOD. Why do I get the exact opposite of what I choose/want?

P.S. Forgot to mention, I do always vote against it. Usually with whatever other map has more votes.

Since most people hate Flood and prefer Hivemind there’s not much you can do other than partying up with other people that want to play Flood.

Well people like it over normal flood because it is kinda like the past halo games but not sure how you can avoid it because it is popular at the moment.

Don’t vote right away, see what everyone is voting for, then vote. If it’s hivemind, leave then rinse and repeat. Everyone mostly votes cause the zombies don’t have thruster pack and your armor is the color you choose and isn’t the boring yellow. They could do the same for regular flood, its just too late right now. :frowning:

I prefer Hivemind over Flood.
I just get too much B.S. from Thruster that I don’t vote basic anymore. Plus all people do in Basic Flood is camp. Hivemind promotes Map Flow for Weapons, most people won’t do this which ends up getting them killed in the end.

I also prefer the AR starts because Zombies have a better chance vs CQB. AR is good while bursting med-long(my film clip in my fileshare proves this with LMS damage buff).
Most times I see the Sniper, Sticky Det or other major Powers just sitting there untouched most games. I end up picking them up and be LMS most of the time.

I also like having 2 hit vs Flood so you now have an extra second of reaction time. This also promotes Flood Team Zerg Rush to a target. It’s so effective you won’t even notice they require two hits if it’s 4v1.

To each their own though, Personally we need more user-created maps with less exploitable locations. I hate Basic Flood on Complex with a ever-burning passion, as well as a few others.

Deleting forge island might help.

I’m not sure if that would totally kick you out of any playlist or just prevent you from getting Hivemind. Although honestly I prefer it over regular flood.

I like Hivemind better than Flood. Just don’t vote.
