You make a ranking playlist that takes a lot of playtime before your able to uncap your skill level.
Once you reach a certain amount of wins, you skill/rank is uncapped by very little.
You can repeat this many times, and it should slow down boosting.
If you’re basing it off of time played in said playlist… People would still afk the games etc to get that time goal to get their rank uncapped. Then just play how they normally would to “rank up”.
You would have to make losses have a bigger impact to avoid this, in my opinion.
hopefully 343 will implement better than reach/halo 3, but they haven’t given us details on it yet

Sorry, but that just seems over the top.
That’s a ranking system designed specifically to prevent boosting.
That wouldn’t be very fun, because you’re letting the exception dictate what kind of system you want to implement.
Halo 4’s ranking system will probably make boosting very difficult to do or just not worth the time.
Halo Wars was like that. Boosting rank in Halo Wars is almost (99.99%) impossible.

With respect, if I’m reading this right then, you mean to say someone would stay at a certain level for awhile before being ranked up, regardless if their skill is truly great?
Okay, so that may stop boosting. However, the downside to that is that the person who is skilled will just continue to pwn noobs like crazy at the lower level. That in turn will “put off” a lot of gamers and you’ll see a decline in Halo players.
Imagine someone who is really a 45 for instance being stuck at a level where they are playing against 20s for a time, just because they haven’t played enough matches. Yes, the 45 won’t boost, but those 20s take the punishment even more than the would-be booster.
Mind you, I’m not at all for boosting. I just think that it’s going to be a very complex formula that can weed out the boosters and yet keep gameplay/skill/rank fair for everyone.
What about boosting in Social Playlist?
Or you could just tweak Trueskill so that your team mates rank (sigma) doesn’t affect your leveling.
Yay! -EXP Boosting completely 100% pointless.
