How to set up Halo Reach System link 4 vs 4?

I have some questions about halo reach system link. I’m going over to a friend next weekend to play 4 vs 4.

  • We got 2 TV’s.
    2 Halo reach disc’s
    2 Xbox 360. (one black and one white)
    Ethernet cable’s and a router.

  1. Does it work to just plug two xbox 360 together via ethernet/crossover cable? I believe I’ve done that with halo 3.
    Or do I need to plug the consoles into my router?

  2. Will I be able to play downloaded maps like the Noble Map pack if my friend haven’t bought them on his xbox? If not, are there any solutions other than buying the map pack a second time?
