As long as we stay on this planet we’re always going to fight and kill each other over resources and disputes (just look at this forum). I believe that the best way to make a friend is to have a common enemy. In times of war when commodore is high and the need to have an advantage is present, a lot of technological advances are made. Spartans were beating the crap out of revolutionaries and teabagging them until the covenant arrived… At that point every human’s differences were nullified.
The only problem is finding an enemy. I believe we need to provoke some extraterrestrials to attack us. Our best bet is to use the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex to broadcast insults and obscenities in every conceivable language into space.
