How to reduce betraying.

There are many people killing teammates just for the weapons.

If we introduce a system that makes it impossible for the betrayer to pick up the betrayed person’s weapons (maybe for 30 seconds until a minute, or permanent), would make people stop betraying just for weapons in my opinion.

(Or just simply stop betraying.)

Its sad how pathetic some people are that we even need to consider emplaning things like this in the game.

But sadly we do.

Though at the rate at which things are going I wouldn’t be surprised to hear FF is off by default.

Or have the victim respawn with the weapons he had when he was betrayed. Same ammo to prevent deliberate betrayals for a top up.

Obviously, it’s not as simple as that, there would need to be some changes, but both proposals would work to an extent.

I don’t know if there are many people like me, but personally i rarely betray people but when i do (i don’t think I’ve ever taken their weapons) i have two targets people who are obviously AFK and people under the age of 12 with a mic on.There is nothing more satisfying than hearing a ten year old scream in his mic when he is betrayed. XD

Anyway, that aside there should be a serious punishment for betrayal, maybe something creative like giving the betrayer a big red target above his head, that everyone can see from any spot on the map. or even something like making him run slower. or a combination of the two.

lol, even you were 12 once. Don’t be a Debbie Downer, just mute them if you have to. No need to betray anyone.

If you betray someone your point count could be reduced severly, this might deter people from betraying. You could enable things that make it so that if they betray someone they will take serious penalties in some form(sheilds dont regenerate, damage decreases, speed decrease ETC)

Wow why pick on kids younger than you?

Make the attempting Betrayer receive the damage instead of it being inflicted on the player about to be betrayed.

jk lol

I believe that if someone Betrays, the should receive a Waypoint above their head (Like when a person is spawning people in Invasion), that is visible to all, and that the person should receive the equivalent to having an amount of cR withdrawn. In addition, to assist teams and promote teamwork, the team with the betrayer should not deal with the consequences of that sole persons’ actions. That is to say, there should be no point penalty on the team.

This has been on my mind as well.

What I always thought was a good idea, in order to keep Friendly Fire on, that the booting system has to be tweaked.

Examples of instant boot upon betrayal would be:

  • Betrayed player had a power weapon, betrayer did not.
  • No enemies within a close proximity, to rule out collateral damage in a chaotic firefight.

And the inability to pick up the weapons of the betrayed player also works very well.

Also, if you get betrayed, you should take the betrayers point, instead of the team going down 1 point.

People who get betrayed should always get the option to boot. You can tell if it was on accident or on purpose. After all, we’re getting a “join in progress” game anyways.

We have the option to boot for betrayal, so surely we could have the option to force a respawn? If I’m betrayed for Sniper, I can force the person who betrayed me to be instantly killed. I would consider that fair, as well as stopping people from betraying for weapons.

It could come up for every betrayal, as well as forgive obviously. Also the current boot for betrayal system could stay in place.

That is true, but I have betrayed people many times without purpose in Halo: Reach, and still get booted (above 90% of the times).

> You can tell if it was on accident or on purpose.

Unfortunately, many people just auto-boot. I’ve been kicked lots for totally accidental betrayals. Plus, there are those d-bags who deliberately get in the way of your vehicle or sniper so they can get betrayed and boot you.

In truth almost all games are perfect. It’s the people who change things and devs have to adjust things over time to counter act the Ego.
