How to record in Theatre?

How do you do it? I know I can record with the xbox but how do I record in a similar fashion to that of MCC or Halo 3/Reach? I don’t believe that 30 seconds is the max that we can record, that would be an outright downgrade from past Halo games

No clips, no screenahotting either. It is only there to assist your Xbox DVR system in recording clips in that manner.

They took the feature out… not sure why. But they were stupid enough and did it. They say they listen to us, but I highly doubt that.

Open up Upload Studio and you can make longer recordings.

Ive been wondering the same thing…I guess its the same way you capture clips when you’re playing mid game. Press Big X- xbox record dat shxt

Then gotta fiddle about with disabling the HUD elements and using a second app…tis rather obtrusive to my theatre experience.

The Xbox has a built in DVR.

I don’t see what you’re crying about.

The problem is it sucks because of the five minute limit

You can actually record more than 5 minutes of gameplay (snap Game DVR, start recording, unsnap). I think you can record up to about 30 minutes now, but from some quick googling I think the upload is still limited to 5 minutes. If you have the YouTube app you might be able to upload a longer clip stright to there from your local clips.

Other methods would be to grab yourself a capture card, some decent ones on the market, or broadcast to Twitch. Twitch will save your clips and then you can download the file and YouTube it later if you wish

I think after the dashboard update, it will be unlimited.

That dvr sucks and were forced to use an inferior mode to halos theater mode which was way better.

It still records all the same. Just snap the app. I use it all the time.

Here’s a clip I made of how to break out of Riptide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnjalDl_2Ms

What I think the OP is trying to ask is “How do you record in theater mode, not the crap Xbox One DVR?”.

SMH If you had experience with previous Halo titles like Halo Reach, ODST and Halo 3 you would know that you use to be able to record AND SAVE clips while in a full length film in theater mode. By recording and saving all of these clips IN THEATER MODE you could rewatch and share these clips with other people who have the game which allows that person or you, whoever is watching, to break away the camera from first person view and either free roam the camera to whatever angle they want or watch from an opponent’s perspective. Theater mode also allowed you to save MULTI HOUR LONG FILMS directly to your hard drive. There wasn’t a restriction to just saving to the cloud or any of that crap. Halo Reach allowed someone to save literally thousands of unique films to their hard drive for later viewing and this, again unlike the Xbox DVR, doesn’t downgrade the graphical fidelity or resolution.

343i has all but removed the ability to save films for no apparent reason and that is unacceptable.

I always use the smartglass app on my phone. Open it while playing, click on halo 5 when it picks up that you are playing it and a “Record That” button shows up.

  • Windows 10, Xbox app. - Stream - Use some sorta screen recorder and begin to make movies.
That is how I do it anyways…

To record in theatre mode, double tap the Xbox button, you will get two options record or screenshot. choose record, when you want your recording to stop double tap xbox button and do the same. I don’t know how long it lets you record.

Having baseline features and standards met in 2007 is not their thing, sorry. You can use the clunky, slow, non-integrated, hardly functional Xbox app though! Yay! Yay for not being able to record clips and take screenshots easily. Yay for no file browser for the files to largely be relevant. Yay for no functional file share to effectively share funny screenshots and engaging videos.

my double tap the Xbox button doesn’t work anymore.

Whenever I do it, (I use shadowplay,) it always freezes up when played in the playback. It will only record a few seconds of it then it just stops. But the audio keeps on playing though. How do I fix that?
