So I’ve noticed some significant difficulty reaching diamond rank in slayer.
For the most part, I’m in the top two of my team and but shuffle between platinum 6 down to 4. I think I’ve got a decent feel for the maps and weapons and, watching theater, see no significant differences in skill levels of the diamond players.
Briefly, my strategy overall is to find the SMG and battle rifle. I try to find somewhere to camp and get at least one kill with SMG before covering the map with the battle rifle. Next options are powerweapons, hydra, shotgun, overshield, invisibility but, at the start of the game, these are usually flooded with people so you’re likely to die and maybe get a kill along the way. I usually get 1-2 kills per death this way but lose 50% of the time due to someone doing terribly (or I just have a crappy game, get repeatedly double teamed…).
What are the key areas to improve on before reaching diamond?
I’d say my major weakpoints are not relying on the pistol (go for BR asap).
My sniping is hit or miss but not sure how to get it any better. I either get lucky snapshots or kill someone not looking.
I don’t use my mic. I find it useless, “One shot at my X”, How is this helpful? By the time you get there they are either gone, recharged, or with other teammates. “They have the sniper”, so, are you supposed to just hide then?
So essentially, I play solo. I try to jump into ongoing fights when possible but prefer to find my targets at some distance and get a few rounds in before they realize it.
Every map is different, but does anyone have any advice on where I’m going wrong, Apologies for the long post!

Just get a team for some reason the ranking system is based on if you win the match and not on your individual skill.
