I’m looking at stuff in the customization menu in Halo Infinite, and there’s a few things there that I would like to unlock and apply to my character. I’m having trouble working out how I unlock them. When I select the item it says it’s locked and unavailable. In my humble opinion this is completely useless information, tell me how I unlock it. I mean duh, that’s what I want to know.
Welcome to Halo Infinite. Hopefully you are enjoying the game.
The user interface definitely could be better. A lot of the items you’re looking at will be store items that only become available when rotated into the small selection in the store. Others were available to unlock for free in past events. These are likely to become available again on the future but who knows when.
Probably not the answer you wanted to hear but hopefully that clears things up.
Unfortunately, unless you were here at launch and have the money for each and every week of cosmetic shop rotations and you were also here for all the events, you cannot get 95% of the cosmetics.
Welcome to “live-service” which is just code for “you don’t have expendable income and you don’t have an addiction to playing this game? Then you are going to get only 10 things to customize yourself with instead of 1,000 things sucka.”
this is one of the reasons infinite sucks, can’t just play and earn whatever i want whenever unless i have the money and time which im not willing to give either for this garbage pile so im forced to suffer a bland looking spartan for the rest of infinite but at least it matches the blandness of infinite.
Unfortunately that is what we get for a game’s mulitplayer being made free-to-play when you had a budget of $500 million spent on development and marketing.
I think they put the onus on the player do research on the cosmetic they want deliberately. It’s part of creating a FOMO environment, it helps give the cosmetics exclusivity. So you might see “released in Season 1” but factually it was only in the shop once during S1.
Joke’s on them, I don’t intend on spending any time trying to get achievements. I’m from the generation of players who created a character and had all personalisations available immediately. Think Halo 1/2/3 multiplayer. Games are way different these days, and I’d rather pay for the multiplayer and it all be available to me.
and what im pointing out is how can someone enjoy infinite with this god awful way of earning cosmetics, especially when there’s not much else to play for, this game has seriously been lacking in content since day one it still feels like im waiting for the rest of the game to release.
It sucks. I don’t even know how to make my own post on the forum. Also everything that is happening is because they listen to these kids that don’t like anything they are given. Like with the weekly challenges. I’m absolutely fine with the same rewards coming up now and again along with new ones. It gives the whole player base a chance instead of just those kids that literally play the same game day in day out. It hurts some of the community. Next is yeah the weekly store that doesn’t bother me. I’m ok with 20$ here or there to support a developer I like. I really wish people would stop complaining and enjoy a game. No one have them a break they tried something new, a free to play game. They got to make profit somehow. This is how. It’s the same generation that grew up on Fornite and this is how it affects other games. Battlepasses, Micro Transactions etc. Like I said it really really sucks. Especially for the gamers that work, go to school or whatever reasons and don’t have everyday to play. I just hope we aren’t forgotten and left in the dirt.
big fax. stop listening to the small sweats and take a look at the entire community to see what to do. they should also stop saying halo is a competitive franchise. was a party game first. few things tho
true. when something news out, I’m pretty lenient on how it’s out of the box. Sea of Thieves out the box was pretty boring since it was just “take a job, sail here, do a thing, rinse and repeat” along with the bugs. now its way more than that (still lil buggy tho). heck, I still play Killing Floor 2, and that game is essentially dead. halo however still has Desync, shipped w/o forge+co op (split-screen) leaving less to do, and saying before launch there are more free ways to obtain stuff than paid when turns out there weren’t. They are legitimate issues to have for a game, whether it’s a big franchise like halo or a small indie like Deep Rock Galactic (go buy that btw, amazing game)
not really. 343 just takes the popular thing of today and rolls with it. they did this before with Halo 4. “whats the biggest thing and the biggest demographic right now? CoD? Well lets make the next halo like cod”. you can argue Halo 5 did this as well cause of titan fall. its “new” in that its F2P…but they’re just copying off the popular kid’s HW again, being that Fortnite; F2P + paid cosmetics + paid separate mode (that will be abandoned when a PvP mode gets popular. and we all know it’ll be BR to some degree if they make it good and “halo”). the difference is Fort has its stuff planned out months in advance and if I’m right doesn’t have brain dead managers (cept they were caught doing Crunch but shhhh lol)
Many items rotate in and out over a period of time. Various events like the current one, give you the ability to partake and unlock those items through playing various game modes.
Given that typically the marketing of a Triple-A game can often-times be equal to the actual development costs of the game, it is usually half of the budget.
But considering the fact that Halo Infinite had the Outpost Discovery marketing campaign, that “world-tour expo” was probably the most expensive portion of the budget by far.
If we were to subtract the marketing budget of Halo Infinite, I estimate the cost to like be at around $170,000,000, and that includes the costs of the Blam! 6.0 engine overhaul into the Slipspace Engine and the contracted peripheral companies to assist with development (Airborne Studios, Liquid Development, Certain Affinity, etc.)
Sounds like artificial scarcity in order to bump sales.
Sorry 343, but I’m over the age of majority and I’m not falling for it. I guess you don’t want my money, I’ll stick to the default items.
Copying what’s out there isn’t a good strategy if you ask me. Why did I buy CoD MW3? Because it’s like CoD, why did I buy Halo 3? because it’s like Halo. Making them the same turns a reason to buy into a reason to choose only one.
Bill me for the multiplayer and give me all the customisation options. Because instead of giving 343 money for the game, I decide not to give them money for what has been my Halo livery for DECADES. BECAUSE I’m not 12, I don’t suffer FOMO and I will NEVER pay for micro-transactions.
