So it’s around 12 AM, and I’m bored and sitting awake, so what do I do? Come up with ideas.
So, people want an open world, and others don’t. I wouldn’t mind big areas like CE, or really big areas like Destiny. What if the campaign had a linear open world like God of War(basically meaning not as big as RDR2), and then at the end of the game completely opened up an even larger section of maybe a Halo ring. This area could contain marines needing help, banished camps, skulls, challenges, and so much more for extra single player content. I think this would be pretty cool for something a little extra after the main game campaign. There’s plenty of room for secondary characters and Easter eggs.
Menu screen would look like:I
Campaign
Multiplayer
Forge
Halo (the Open World idea)
Settings
Theater
What do you think?
it might be cool if you go on the ring and there is the main story and a bunch of side quests around the world
i also like the idea of finding like really rare weapons by just searching for ages and you find them in like caves and stuff

but should the huge open world be seperate from the campaign, but leave the campaign with the fairly large areas still? halo has always had a linear story, which id like to stick with, but being able to explore ce levels was always fun while staying linear
if you dont understand what I mean by seperate, look at my “description” of what the menu could look like at the end of my first post
I still think that the upcoming Halo Infinite will have open world gameplay especially in a similar way like the God of War 2018 video game where the entire game are being filmed in one-shot. I also think that we are going to see like 20 or 30 missions in Halo Infinite.
I always imagined Halo Infinite’s storyline being split into two sections. The main campaign where you play as John in the environments but in a more linear and traditional “campaign” manner. And afterwards the same envirnments can be reused for a secondary campaign similar to Spartan-Ops where you play as your customizable Spartan and probably partake in missions that update themselves overtime to keep things interesting.

thats a rly good idea
How did the idea of Halo Infinite being an open-world game start? I haven’t seen anything that would suggest it would be open-world.
I’m not completely against the idea, because it sounds neat, and Halo has done it before with ODST. However, I’m not convinced it would be the right direction for the main series, especially for a game that is going to be a make-or-break for much of the community.

I like that, especially if the missions are interesting and aren’t overflowing with endless amounts of crawlers and watchers.
I could see either free or paid DLC stories doing that.

I think it sprouted from the trailer that took a wide shot of chief driving across the ring in the warthog, and also the smoke beacon in the distance. I think it’s going to be half and half with linear/open. Halo CE was good with that, and I can see Infinite doing that in a way.
The iconic halo navpoint indicator for the main story missions, and a secondary indicator for side missions.
Decent sized but dense open world where you go to markers in the world that activate a more linear, classic halo mission. Dynamic weather, day/night cycle, hidden skulls and terminals and easter eggs. Banished convoys and patrols, dynamic events with crashed Pelicans needing assistance, imprisoned UNSC troops, ect… banished encampments that you can takeover. an open world halo sandbox with secrets and discoveries around every corner would be an absolute dream. And would be something different that the halo franchise sorely needs to pull off a successful reboot.
I personally don’t like open world games anymore. They tend to feel like work. I’d rather have missions with “open world” that have one primary and a couple of secondary objectives. Every mission’s “open world” could be in a different setting.
Infinite will be as open world as Mass Effect was open world. Just watch.
