What if the default swing of the gravity hammer was just basically a normal blunt weapon, you have to be close to your enemy and the swing is fairly quick, BUT you have the option to charge the gravity hammer swing and the longer you charge it the more powerful it is. Bigger damage radius, gravity manipulation that sends things flying all over the place, and that awesome, classic sound from Halo 3 only ramped up even more. This would give the gravity hammer more depth than ever before and is the perfect middle ground between old and new. The hammer in it’s current state is very underwhelming for the time it takes to swing, but this way the player can swing it fast in a close quarters pinch, or be rewarded with skillful timing of the charged swing with that iconic sound that can be heard across the map and the chaos of the shockwave. Maybe the default, non-charged attack could be using the blade end of the hammer while the charged swing uses the blunt end.
Your idea is cool, but I quite like how it is now. It’s really powerful, slow but powerful. Nicely balanced.
the gravity part of the gravity hammer is pretty lacking rn
I think the hammer is in a great spot. It takes a while to wind up but it has decent range and is usually a OHK. If you lower the range but keep the wind up, it’ll be outclassed by every other CQC weapon. Lower the wind up and damage and then there’s really no reason to use it as it would be the same as two hitting someone with melee.
I have to agree with others here. The gravity hammer isn’t the same as previous entries in the series but it’s a lot better than it was in the first flight. Using it feels really powerful now and not just an alternative to sword.
Looking forward to some Grifball post launch!
I just hope the gravity part of the gravity hammer is seriously buffed for launch, the weapon is fun to use, but it’s disappointing to see the guy you just clobbered fall limply to the ground. I feel the same about the skewer, which would be that much more awesome if it pinned its victims to nearby walls like the crossbow in Half-Life 2.
Actually add gravity
