So we all know how when 343 started making Halo 4 they set out with the idea of integrating the multiplayer experience into the lore, and transformed it into “war games” which we are now all familiar with. Basically you are taking your Spartan into an advanced simulation aboard the Infinity (there are probably some other simulation facilities here and there too) as a form of training. Overall a cool concept which seems to be returning in Halo 5.
In a few weeks we have the Halo 5 beta, a brief period of network testing as well as game balancing. My idea is, why not portray the Beta as an actual testing/prototype phase of the UNSC’s “War Games 2.0” simulation generator. Maybe throw in a quick cutscene when you boot up the game of some Spartan IVs donning their armor while the technicians boot up the simulation. Or, in a similar style to the new pregame and post game scenes of the Spartans high fiving and whatnot, make the background of the post game carnage report a scene of the technicians adjusting some programs or taking feedback from the Spartans that just got out of the sim. Small things here and there to say “look, this is an actual test that really happened within the story.”
Obviously this is a pretty minor thing that nobody would really be upset if it didn’t happen, but i just thought it would be a cool little thing to see and reinforce to us that war games is now “canon” so to speak.
