How to make Season 2 more appealing and last until Season 3 without losing too many players (SUGGESTION)

Okay so the Roadmap for season 2 has been released some hours ago in the Halo Waypoint website.

My YouTube dashboard is full of videos with disappointments and frustrations. I agree with every single one of them, and I’ve been thinking all day long on how to at least make people excited and wanting to play the multiplayer until the release of season 3 (because I love this game).

I’ve come to a simple (in theory) conclusion, that I believe won’t take too much of development time (If heard ASAP) and can be good for both players and devs, without compromise the game.

First, I want to address some concepts that I NEED TO CONSIDER FACTS for this (suggestion) to work (some of these concepts were explicitly shared from the dev team).

1 - There will be no FOMO, so Season 1 Battle pass will still be going to be grindable
2 - Considering the first concept, I believe that the yoroi armor will be unlockable.
3 - 343 cannot waste time (since they are always talking that changes will take time)
4 - When Halo Infinite released, the achievement for completing the battle pass had an image that suggested that the battle pass for Season 1 were meant to have 120 levels of rewards, but as we now know it only have 100.
5 - The store has been a major point of criticism since launch, and the main problem is that many of the good items are “store exclusive” and is (or was) sold in a way that everything was expensive.
6 - IT’S BETTER TO HAVE A POOR STORE BUT MORE PEOPLE PLAYING THAN THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

Now that we consider all this, here is my suggestion to fix Season 2 without compromise to the player nor the devs.

SUGGESTION :
They can hold out some of the items that were supposed to be in the store during Season 2 (which means they are already being made, so no more work for the devs here).

By the middle of the season (September), the same month that they will release the first Forge Flight, they launch a Battle Pass Extension of 40 lvls, for both Season 1 (20lvls) and 2 (also 20lvls) Battle Passes for free ( for everyone that buys/already have the Premium Battle Passes) with the items that they choose to hold back.

CONS:

  • This Season may have a store with poor options.
  • I have no idea how difficult it is to make a Battle Pass Extension

PROS:

  • This will reward people that bought the first battle pass at no cost, showing respect for the player base that has been supporting this game so far.
  • Increase the value of both Battle Passes, making them more appealing to new and free to play players (people that did not buy the Battle Passes).
  • Make something to grind for after the middle of the season, increasing or at least maintaining the player population.
  • Give time to devs to work on the great stuff I’m sure they have in development for us for Season 3, and at the same time making the game feel fresh.

Unfortunately 343I didn’t think about the competition.

The game will loose players to long drawn out seasons and delayed updates. Like it has already.

It won’t take long for another franchise to make a game just as good or maybe better to swoop in and steal the clientele with the promise of more frequent content and just that little something that halo never did.

For a company ran by the Multi billion dollar software and hardware industrie with the reasources and employees to solved this problem have no interest in what the clientele thinks.

It’s like they thought the game will do amazing just becase it’s halo. If it was something else or something new it would of died allot quicker.

A six month season would be ok if content rich.

As you’ve mentioned the biggest problem is going to be the Battle Pass.

And this is only made worse by the lack of any sort of XP rank / grind.

They are going to need some serious mid-season stuff to buff the second half of the season.

Forge better not get delayed…
