How to make Halo 5 more like Halo

The art, graphics and sounds in Halo 5 are bit off in my opinion and make the game not look unique or special like a Halo game should look but rather make it look like a normal game. Here are some things I would like to see changed to the art, graphics and sounds to make it more like unique and look/feel like Halo:

  1. Please change the shield sounds to something similar to the classic sound. The new shield sounds are way too loud and have a too high frequency making them very annoying and distracting. The Halo 3 shield sounds are the still the best in my opinion and 343 should use these again. I understand 343 wants to have their own style but there is nothing with using some sounddesigns from older Halo games if they sound better than the current design. The shield sounds from Halo 3 really give me that Halo feeling, abilities don’t take the Halo feeling away for me, the sound/art changes do. So please bring back the shield sounds from Halo 3 or make them very similar atleast.

  2. Please get rid of the hitmarker pings, they are very annoying and not necessary at all. We got the hitmarker indicators which is enough to make some aware they hit someone or not. The hitmarker pings are pretty annoying and make the sound in the game cluttered instead of clean. I prefer to hear my gun instead of the hitmarker pings.

  3. Please change the menu sounds to simple clicks instead of beeps/pings. Everything in Halo 5 so far that has to do with sound is all on a very high tone or has some kind of beep/ping in it which does not sound good. Also I really don’t like hearing the start of a match sound when backing out of the menu.

  4. The lightning effects in Halo 5 are way too bright and make the art look ugly. The metal objects reflect too much light and are too shiny making the game look less like Halo and more like any other shooter. Please add some colors to the game instead of making everything bright and shiny, it looks ugly. Halo is a sci-fi game, it never looked realistic and should not look realistic now. Be creative, add some colors to make the art look beautiful instead of making it look generic by making everything bright and shiny.

  5. I can understand the Rocket Launcher design needed to change for Smartscope but atleast give it the same colors of the classic Halo rocket launcher so it still looks like the iconic classic rocket launcher we all love since Halo: CE.

  6. Please remove the wind streams that appear when we are approaching max sprint speed. It is distracting and makes the screen look cluttered instead of clean.

The Rocket Launcher should go back to how it used to be, everything else I agree with but even getting rid of those things wouldn’t make it resemble Halo. It lacks passion and love for the Franchise, this is reflected by 343i ignoring the Communities requests for Spartan Abilities to be taken out.

This is how I feel the direction of the Halo franchise needs to go. The fans will come flocking back. Also to the people who say Halo needs to change and you can’t just release the same game. I do not want 343 to release the same game but to improve upon the existing the best parts of the existing games.
So here is how to make the best Halo:

  • First off Halo 3 game play and mechanics (campaign and multiplayer)- Halo Reach armor customization but in the scale of Halo 4- Halo Reach graphic and art design- Halo 3 file share- Halo 4 Forge- Halo 3 ODST firefight- A great story-line for campaigFactions that need to be in the game (each with their own set of weaponry):
  • Humans- Covenant (newly formed under control of Arbiter)- Storm faction Covenant- Flood- A Brute faction of some sort- PrometheansAnd here is where the next gen comes in:
  • dedicated servers (that work)- 60 fps- 1080p- new game modes for online- longer campaign- more driveable vehicles (e.g Scarab)

Halo Reach forge was better but I agree with everything you’ve said.

Some things I definitely agree with:

  • Firefight Mode, not Spartan Ops
  • More Vehicles
  • The Reach customization options were great, from changing the voice over to the armor effects, more of that would be fun
    Some of my own wishes:
  • Flying Vehicles, not just a Banshee
  • Invasion was great fun in Reach, whether that was the huge maps i’m not sure, but it was so much fun (especially Spire with flying battles)
  • EMP weapons, like the grenade launcher from Reach
  • Reach’s Forge World meant there were some great maps and mini games, so a modern equivalent would be great, with more environments
  • More open campaign, Halo 4 felt very claustrophobic for some reason, compared to Halo 3 or Reach
  • More epic campaign, Halo 4 was a great start, but felt it missed some of the epic moments from the other Halo’s
  • Another spin off like ODST, even though it was a bit short I loved the open city and the night time creepiness and Firefight I like the direction 343 are going, however I feel like there is something missing that the other Halo’s had that Halo 4 didn’t, and I believe 5 might hot have either. It might just be a lack of fun, and it’s now more competitive and feels pressured to make a certain game based on other gaming trends. I hope I’m proved wrong.

I wasn’t sure if it is just me. But for me everything from shooting to sliding the sound at the announcer everything seemes to have some kind of a high tone to it. Don’t know what’s the best way to describe it but it seems the made the overall sounds to high. They should make them sound normal.
