I am SR 93. I know it’ll take long and I know the math of how much I need per day to make it to 152. But what recommendations is there to make it to 152 without getting bored. Otherwise that’s my issue with making max rank. Halo 5 gets boring very fast. The coating is not worth it if I spend the rest of the year I play halo 5 bored out of my mind.
Only play when you feel like it. No coating is worth doing something that you would rather not be doing.
Use your REQs. I made the mistake of hating the REQ system enough to protest it by not using REQs at all. I got good at coming first or second using just loadouts, but it’s not nearly as much fun. I did so until about SR150. But, it became way more fun to bust out an Ultra Banshee in round 2 (during a particularly good match) and rack up 200+ kills. Just make sure not to waste any items. You have many matches to play and the drop rates are designed to make you open more packs.
However, don’t put a dime into the system. That is definitely not worth doing.
Lastly, 343i has not said you cannot get the coatings after Infinite launches. It’s likely a strategy to get players to play H5. More players = more potential whales for the REQ system. I’m guessing the unlock system will be similar to that of Helioskrill, one where an unlock is triggered in one game based on an accomplishment in another.

Yeah I imagine it’ll be available after release. Even with REQs its so boring, its tirihg and thats why I’m so low in rank. Its just lame. But hey I guess it’ll be something I dont get around doing.
I wouldn’t bother if you get bored easy with it.
Oh boy.
I played a TON of war Zone firefight, because the games were quick with a full team and gave good xp with minimal effort. I can give advice on that gametype.
Every 20 games or so id get the blood lust and try to get as many kills as possible, but for the most part I goofed around. It’s a lot of games and xp.
Like, let’s see how I do just using default weapons.
Or, I’m going to drive an oni warthog and hook random people up with kills for a week. Or use bad weapons and reqs, see how you do.
I was making my own mini games.
Listening to music helped, and at one point I tried learning Spanish while playing.
You could turn it into a halo workout.
The place you finish is the number of sit ups, barbell curls, and pull ups you have to do.
I used a leg-cycling machine while playing og halo reach firefight, and it really helped when I hiked the Appalachian trail. Did that a bit in halo 5 till I found other players to team up with.
Wzff is vehicle dominant, so I would use reqs to support vehicles, be generally helpful overall. Some scenarios call for everyone to bust out vehicles, learn when you have to do that.
Learn the spawns.
For stretches here and there, I would try to win games as quickly as possible which i loved.
Vehicles in h5 are great. 343 shouldn’t have made them so neccesary in wzff, and under certain circumstances, should have enabled the reloading of req power weapons.
Don’t use real money to buy req packs, imo.
Once I maxxed out gold packs, I never needed anything other than silver packs.
If youre of age, and its legal where you live, I suggest a moderate tokeage, a beer or two. Take it easy, Spartan. You’ll be playing thousands of games.
Use your xp jackpots and boosts.
When other gametypes have double experience, check them out for a break.
You’re limited to your imagination.
And take breaks.
Yeah like the guy above I open the Spotify app and put on a podcast or music while playing mythic firefight.
You can adjust the music/game mixer so I drop game audio low enough so I can still just hear it.
It’s a grind, there’s no doubt about it… And OP is a looooong way from 152.
Anyone going for it needs to do the calculations, the curve after 150 is steeeeeep, and it’s a huge commitment even from there.
I’m a quarter through 151 and I’m still over 10million xp away.
I have enough XP to be 152 twice. I can tell you confidently that the best way to avoid boredom is by playing with friends rather than playing solo. Playing by yourself can get boring and repetitive very fast.
Additionally, playing with friends increases your odds of winning, therefore increasing your total XP payout.
So definitely play some music, or something to keep you entertained. Find a playlist you enjoy and stick with that as much as you can, but mixing it up a little will help break up the monotony as well, so you need to find that right balance, unless you’re hard core grinding, in which case you want to stick with the playlist that’ll help you out the most. Also, find some friends to play with. Joining a spartan company (if you’re not already in one) can help you out too. Playing with someone breaks up the tediousness of playing… from experience, makes the grind a lot better when you have someone going through it with you… hope that helps…

100% this.

This is a good strategy - but seeing as how the grind is long, I actually suggest alternating every couple of weeks.
Do all out for a few weeks, using tons of REQs and dominate - it can be fun.
Then, maybe go a couple weeks WITHOUT pulling a single req. Use loadout weapons and armor abilities only, and scavenge what you can from the battlefield. It can add a unique challenge to how you play, and might make it interesting for a little while. (Only really viable in WZ Firefight, because in PvP you’d get creamed and that’s not fun).
> However, don’t put a dime into the system. That is definitely not worth doing.
I agree - I’m still contemplating buying XP packs, I haven’t yet, and don’t THINK I will, but yeah, don’t buy Gold packs or anything silly like that.
Something I’ve been doing is swapping my armor sets a lot, usually equip a new set every 1-2 games and make a new color scheme just for the heck of it. It’s kind of nice to re-visit armors. Otherwise in war zone or war zone firefight, I give myself challenges, for instance I might only use covenant weapons, use only air vehicles, or use only explosive REQ weapons.

Truth. I like to switch up my armors, emblems, color schemes, and even weapon skins quite a bit to keep it fresh but also I never get tired of Halo man its too fun especially when you get a group of friends with you and I really enjoy H5 multiplayer. I don’t really get the hate for it honestly sprint is not that bad and I like the thruster as it adds an element of outplaying your opponent. I could do without sprint but I don’t get butthurt about it either.
As a solo player, I always listen to music or podcasts to make the time go by faster

This, even just queue up a ton of youtube videos if you dont have podcasts works wonders.
It still takes a long time but its easier to put 50% concentration in to it while listening to the podcast / video and you don’t feel like your time is just wasted on 1 thing when technically you are doing two things at once
I mostly grinded heroic warzone firefight for my 152, what I did to change it up and make it fun was set my own rules sometimes. For example I would make it so I could only use random weapon req cards or random vehicle req cards… Or I couldn’t use vehicle reqs or I could only use vehicle reqs and no shooting hand held weapons… Stuff like that.
But if you truly aren’t enjoying it I would say don’t worry about it. It’s just a coating and not a very good looking one if you ask me. Not to mention in game you don’t really see your armor or it’s color very often either.

I decided to just run a lot of fire fight and play with the reqs while watching the office, livestreams and podcasts. Then when I get tired I play for mcc challenges. I definitely won’t make max until after infinite is out so if I decide to not grind after infinite then oh well.

It’s not that important really. You can bet there will be way better coatings than the one you get for 152 so even if you get it odds are you won’t even use it. Gaming is supposed to be fun so if you aren’t enjoying it play something you do enjoy. There are plenty of cosmetics in previous Halo games I never got and don’t give a second thought to.
In Warzone, I get some sort of puzzle game on my phone so when I die in the later rounds with 15+ second spawn times, I do that. Helped pass some time

Dude all honesty this is like the only thing that seems to be rewarded for achieving and it makes me want it. I do know there will be more legacy stuff but I got this to look forward to lol. But eh when the game comes out ill be lost in the campaign and kicking -Yoink- in the mp. I at least get to play halo 5 more… its not as bad as I remember. It’s fun honestly playing the way people have recommended so far, the guns are intresting

I cant tell you the difference playing with other people makes. Huge difference in entertainment. Honestly best tip out there if you ask me.
playing with friends makes everything more fun, but when I’m alone I usually listen to music and play firefight
