Like many other people, firefight is my FAVORITE game mode. I still find myself playing Halo 3 ODST and Halo Reach
Firefight was good for a while, but it got repetitive… The good part of firefight was making it seem like you were fighting for your life and you will kill anything that gets in your way. I also liked how Reach had customization, like your enemies and custom classes.
Here is what firefight needs:

more enemies. We need the covenant definitely, but the prometheans, flood, innies, and UNSC. All types of enemies are needed and all their new ranks and old ranks. Old species are also needed like skirmishers and brutes and drones and engineers.

Rewards. I feel like with the points you earn, you should be able to buy things. I say this with my teeth closed because when I say buying things I mean like what MW3 had in its survival mode and how you could buy airstrikes and soldiers.Examples are Longsword strike, short sword strike, drone strike, broadsword precision strike, saber strike, pelican gunship, falcon gunship, hornet gunship, 4 marines, 2 ODST’s, 1 spartan II III or IV, infinity ordinance, deployable turrets, AA’s. Etc. tell me which ones you like or if there are any missing.

Customization. Halo Reach introduced customizable firefight which I really liked. However, things were missing… I think that with the new Xbox and new features, you can be able to customize more. Examples are choosing how enemies spawn on the map. There are many ways for this. Single drop pod, 4 man drop pod, large drop pod as seen in spartan ops, phantoms, lich’s, portals. It would be cool to have enemies come in in lich’s and portals. Then when you think the round is almost over, a huge floating drop pod comes in. Customize how many enemies come in a round and what weapons they carry. Customize what health bar you want. ODST, Spartan III, Spartan IV. Custom classes are good too. Customize what vehicles come in a map. Say you call in a pelican gunship and then you see an anti air wraith. Oh -Yoink!

more challenging enemies and non repetitive things. It would be cool if during a round or a wave the covenant deploys artillery as seen in spartan ops, or covenant or forerunner anti air guns, banshee airstrikes to distract you, seraph airstrikes to destroy you, scarabs, harvesters, phantom gunboats to cover the phantoms while deploying troops, and a covenant cruiser coming out of slip space that you need to laser with a target designator. All of these things can be destroyed with rewards as stated above.
Tell me what else you want. These are personally what I think would be great. Is there anything I forgot? Feedback please. If you guys like this, keep this thread going!!
You have a pretty good list and I agree with pretty much everything. I think Personal Ordnance would work very well in something like Firefight.
Some of the things I’d like to see are random placement of enemies within waves (so it’s not so predictable), better A.I. and maybe boss fights.
I hope there are some crazy events that can periodically take place to spice things up. Let’s say you are fighting a Covenant wave then all of a sudden the Flood come out of nowhere and start attacking both you and the Covenant, so it turns into a three way war where no one is safe.
Also, if you have A.I. companions on your team I think it would be cool to command them and give them orders like I suggested in this thread.
Covenant Cruiser should be a boss wave were in slip-space warps in an it tries to glass the planet/map and you only have a certain amount of time splitting your attention from ground and local troops to the cruiser…
Spartans/ODST/Marines… a covenant cruiser has just warped in its trying to glass the surface. You only have a limited time to take it out quick Spartans/ODST/Marines while it is vulnerable. A target designator has been dropped in for you.
Players try to get target designator but when they get to it and try to use it, a promethean turret (Halo 4 huge Oracle looking thing) spawns and stops any support from the UNSC INFINITY and so players use Designators one charge on it or on ground troops. And they arm up in a MAC Cannon or Mass Driver killing it moments before it glasses planet thus scaring players… Alternation can be good perhaps if players choose to destroy turret pelican drop ships, sabres or broadswords destroy the cruiser instead.
I like to see some objectives as well.
Like: Defending a Power Core or having to detonate a bomb against waves of covenant.
Spartan Ops had some cool ideas, but still lacked some of the encounters of Fire Fight. A blend of these could work very well.
Are they getting rid of Spartan Ops?

I think they are. Spartan ops just failed, it wasn’t a very good replacement for firefight and it just wasn’t overly fun.
The cut-scene graphics were amazing though and it had a pretty cool story-line but other then that it just didn’t deliver.
Boss waves would be awesome and ordinances are something that goes well with firefight also make it where u have a certain amount of lives and not infinite that’s when reach firefight got annoying to me cuz no matter what u were gonna win
