Someone told me I need a dedicated computer for a server for people to join. I tried simply creating a game and waiting in it but everyone said they couldn’t join. All of the tutorials are years old and they aren’t working for me.
You don’t need a dedicated server to join, though if you still want to create one, there are resources available on the web.
You can host a game using an ordinary client (in layman’s terms: just do it through the game). You say you’re having trouble with people joining you? Have you tried port forwarding?

As stated, my friends could not join my game by just creating a game. Also, all of the tutorials I could find were outdated.

No I haven’t. What’s the default port range that HALO uses? (I’ve never done this before). I found a tutorial and these are the settings I have no clue what to enter (all of them, lol).
Here’s a picture of the settings I need:
I know what is wrong, but I don’t remember exactly how to fix it. It has something to do with your computer and the internet security settings associated with the program. Try to go to CE’s properties and play around with it until you find the security options.
Hint: Firewall settings
lol no, ive played for 5 years.
On windows there should be a feature to “create new game” and you can set the game settings, a password, and players allowed in.
If youre good at modding, you can even make some lol mods where magnum shoots fire and shotgun shoots sticky grenades. Much lols to be had.
Should I put my computers IP address as the LAN IP address that my router is asking for?
Sorry folks but I’m stumped. I can’t seem to figure out why people can’t join the games I create.
That would be great…If I had $30 to blow. When I create a game do I use my Server IP as the LAN IP address for port forwarding?

Why do you need to spend #30? also, most of the tutorials may be old, but just because they’re old doesn’t mean they don’t work, you just got to find the right program windows is using for what the tutorial calls for, or a newer version of it.
If nothing else, go to some forums that are full of Halo PC gamers, not here where most of the members only play Xbox, and think PC gaming sucks.
