Hey guys! I am going to go over something that is pretty important when you are on a forum - making a forum post. I know this probably seems simple, but I see many posts made incorrectly. Let’s start, shall we?
Choosing The Right Forum
Choosing the right forum can be tricky. Just because something is somewhat related to Halo 4 does not mean it always belongs in the Halo 4 forum. If it is about the playlists in Halo 4 or Join in Progress, it belongs more in Matchmaking than Halo 4. If your topic is about a custom map you made in Halo 4 forge, it still should go in the Community Creations forum.
Subject
The subject is what it says it is… the subject! This should be something short and give readers an idea of what your post is about! Here are some examples of good and bad subjects.
Good
>Thoughts on Forerunner Technology
>[Poll] Favorite Halo 4 Maps & Game Types
>Halo 4 Population Trends
Bad
>Why don’t you listen
>Halo is dead
>JIP
If you are making a subject and another topic has the same/similar subject, chances are you can share your thoughts in that topic instead of making a new one!
Message
The message is the content of your post. This should be more than 1 or 2 sentences. A message that contains something as simple as “see title”, probably means that you did not process your idea enough to make a constructive post and you should wait until you have more ideas behind it.
Try to refrain from name-calling or using other logical fallacies. If you have concerns about logical fallacies while constructing your posts, you can refer to http://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/ for more information on different fallacies and how to avoid them.
Formatting your message is also important. Split up your ideas into separate paragraphs with a space in between. Nobody likes to see a big wall of text!
I hope that this helps some of you create more constructive and well accepted posts in the community
