How to Love Halo Infinite

Our community has gotten way to toxic….and I’m not talking about t-bagging.

From the constant complaining about 343 to the insane rage players in ranked arena. People be reacting to Halo Infinite as if if their entire quality of life is dependent on it.

Why do we allow a game to make us so angry? Aren’t we here to have fun and enjoy ourselves and each other?

When I play ranked solo, I legit end up muting 50% of my teammates that have mics now, because they’re just -Yoink!- and raging about everything. And I’m not talking about constructive criticism that could help the team…it’s straight up hate speech from these rage players.

As we all log on to these forums to demand this or that from 343, we should take a moment to look in the mirror and change the one thing we actually do have control over…ourselves.

Bumping because this seriously needs attention.

It’s not the game, it’s the higher-ups that are making way to many stupid decisions for their own benefit.

Games should be created for the player base as well as themselves, but when a company is just thinking about their wallet, how can anyone just ignore that selfishness.

343 is basically saying we only care about making money, not a decent quality type of game.

Its important to understand that Halo is a very precious and meaningful experience to a lot of people, it is directly tied to many of childhoods around the world. So in many ways it is put up there with things like family and friends even though it shouldn’t be.

343i went into Halo thinking that the core Halo formula was garbage, spitting on the faces of all the fans that were leftover from Halo 3/Reach, they always have awful launches, and Infinite suffers from the “modern gaming” trend where game companies like to give a game that is like 50% complete (at best) then give you all the stuff you expected/wanted at launch months/years later.

Its actually sort of sad in my opinion, if this had been the game we got back in 2012, or even in 2015 they would’ve blew people away, but now? in 2021? Literally there’s like 5 other huge shooters on the market (all of which with drastically more content) so Infinite is a too little too late type of thing.

Battlefield (as a franchise) is now dead because DICE released 1 awful game, imagine if Halo did that but with 3/4 titles back to back? 343i will be lucky if Infinite can keep half of their current users over the next few months. This game just isn’t good enough by today’s standards and definitely not by Halo standards.

I :100: relate with Halo being precious…I remember staying home from high school for both the H2 and H3 midnight release. All my best friendships are based from Halo gameplay.

I walked away from Halo when 343 first took over, because I disliked what they did with the game.

I’m not saying Infinite is without its flaws, but there are things I really enjoy about it. I think 343 is taking the game in the right direction.

My point is: getting angry and raging is not going to fix anything in particular….especially the player on player rage experienced in many ranked arenas I’ve been playing lately.

I can only hope that 343 has enough common sense to realize that there is a strong relationship between the quality of a game and it’s ability to make money…only time will tell.

Hilarious, you start by saying how toxic the community has become and then you end up being apart of it yourself. Ironic.

It’s not irony, it’s humanity. I’m not faulting anyone for their anger/frustration about the game…because I feel it too.

However, I’ve realized my frustration is a disservice to myself…the more I focus on the things that irritate me the worse I play and less I enjoy the game.

We would all probably benefit from taking a similar stance, I’m sure 343 is working to fix the issues with the game and us raging about it isn’t going to make those fixes happen any sooner.

My issues with the game is that after what 343 did with updating MCC and just in general building faith with the fans after disappointment, after disappointment, it really felt like 343 finally learned from their mistakes and wanted to give fans what they wanted and Halo Infinites marketing really pounded that in further.

Then when the game launched even though there are a lot of things I like about it like the gameplay and the campaign, what was being marketed as almost a company being an example of what the industry should be by consumer friendly practices, turned into an example on what not to do by borderline lying about features like,

"You unlock most of our content through playing the game, and only through playing the game",

Also by removing game modes and just removing a good portion of the game just so they could make an excuse to sell it back to players in almost a worse way than Halo 5 (mainly customization).

What I think makes this really frustrating for people is that the game has so much potential and the fact it’s kind of turned into another disappointment or at least launch wise, people are starting to get fed up, myself included.

Now does 343 deserve the excessive and aggressive hate? Not all of it, but they definitely deserve a bit of a backlash on the practices they tried/are trying to pull in the game. Also what people need to understand is that these issues are mainly from a management level at 343 not the devs themselves.
