How to know when a gun is OP? for dummies.

How to know when a gun is OP? for dummies… 343, looks like you need some lesson…

You know the boltshot is OP when majority is using it (don’t deny it),
when it can beat the one shot kill distance of the scattershot and shotgun,
when you see some players use it like a noob combo at mid range,
when its not even hard to aim with it and land shots,
when you know you survived in a situation you should have died without it,
when you hear peoples say: I use it because everyone is using it,
and so on… I could continue for much more…

Boltshot nerfs needed:
-one shot kill at 4 meters instead of 9 meters.
-Longer charging time.
-Make it like the laser, all or nothing, because now we have a ±1.5sec freedom to choose when to shoot.
-Make it even louder to hear when someone is charging up.

You know the DMR is OP when you play Ragnarok and I have hard time to snipe people top mid because you are getting single-double-triple teamed across map easily, even if only your head goes pass the edge(not something you could have seen in halo 3)
when at the first Halo 4 event of MLG (before even the game is released), every pros quickly understand that the DMR is more successful and are replacing it by their beloved BR, because money is at stake.
when you play on the smallest map of the game (haven) and still have the majority of players using it
when you prefer the BR on smaler maps but still go for the DMR because you do usualy more kills with it
and so on… i could continue for much more…

DMR nerfs needed

-Reduce the distance before the reticule turn red, wich allows you to have auto-aim, make it so it is slightly better than the BR, it looks now like it is at least twice as far than the BR.
-Raise up the rate of fire of the BR just a little bit so at close range it has little bit faster kill time, but keep the 5 shots kills.

You know the carbine is underpower when you tested it for a couple few times, but you but coudn’t stand the fact that you were getting much less kills than usual,
when almost nobodsy is using it in matchmaking…

Carbine buff needed:

Make it one less bullet before kill OR raise up just a little bit the rate of fire.

You do realize the DMR is a bloomless version of Reach’s with 1 less bullet. Just put the Reach bloom back and it’s balanced.

It’s been the same since Halo 3. There were no changes, and no changes were needed. The thing is is that the DMR and LR is vastly overpowered. I feel like the Carbine is the most balanced rifle gun in the game.

The BR’s recoil is stupid.

Everyone is using the boltshot?

I’m pretty sure that I’ve only been killed by it like five times, out of the 1000 deaths I’ve experienced at the hands of better or luckier players.

So… i think you may be prone to making hyperbolic statements which are insupportable by any kind of real evidence.

How to spot an OP weapon.

 1. When it makes the entire or large portion of the sandbox redundant.

I don’t know what world you live in, but I come across games where at least 1 person has a boltshot and active camo. It’s so stupid.

The first two posters are contradicting each other on how to fix it.

It might create more problems if they went through with either of the proposals.

 1. Making the DMR random isn’t gonna make it more enjoyable. and that 1 bullet less than halo reach doesn’t affect the effectiveness of the weapon.
 2. the RoF of the halo 4 carbine is much slower than the halo 3 version.

I didn’t state “EVERYONE”.

> 1. Making the DMR random isn’t gonna make it more enjoyable. and that 1 bullet less than halo reach doesn’t affect the effectiveness of the weapon.

It was balanced in Reach BECAUSE of the bloom. Now you could just trigger-spam from long distance w/o any punishment. The bloom on this gun in H4 is basically non-existent.

> 2. the RoF of the halo 4 carbine is much slower than the halo 3 version.

I think you’re over-exaggerating. It feels the same to me.

Oh, my bad

You said “almost everyone”.

So when you notice on your radar that someone with active camo is in the area, you do what?

Rush blindly around corners?

Sometimes they don’t even show up on radar.

but bloom sucks hard, randomness doesn’t make it enjoyable, it just makes it anoying, it is a frustrating way to punish a player for balancing purpose. My solution are not frustrating for the player.

That sounds like more of an active-camo problem than a boltshot issue.

" oh i suck at this weapon so they MUST NERF IT"

lol just get over it kiddies and use a different weapon.

5 deaths to it? Yeah right. Pretty sure you’re making stuff up, or you’re playing big team. In every game I’m in at least 2 of the enemy players have it. Usually the whole team has it, except maybe one.

> That sounds like more of an active-camo problem than a boltshot issue.

Which is another reason why Camo needs to get fixed, and another reason why the boltshot tactic works.

> but bloom sucks hard, randomness doesn’t make it enjoyable, it just makes it anoying, it is a frustrating way to punish a player for balancing purpose. My solution are not frustrating for the player.

Well you should have learned to time your shots in Reach.

Bungie had it right. There was no reason why bloom should be non existent on the DMR in the game. Removal of bloom is the sole reason why the DMR is so overpowered because you could easily spam 5-shots quickly across the map without any punishment. It has a 3x zoom, which helps.

 • BR has recoil.
 • Carbine has minor recoil and not a hitscan.
 • Lightrifle is really slow. Forget what I said about LR being overpowered, because it’s not.

DMR has 0 drawbacks whatsoever. That’s why bloom should be back.

The DMR is perfect.

The BR, Carbine and Light Rifle need to be buffed.

Nerf the DMR and this game becomes really bad really fast. It’s basically the only reason why I play the game. We finally have a consistent good weapon and we haven’t had one of those since Halo 2.

I use the boltshot, I’m good with it, and I think it needs nerfed.

sigh

Why are so many people suggesting the implementation of bloom when the entire community griped and complained about it until we got TU playlists in Reach? Logic fail.
