How to improve your aim?

How do I improve my aim in Halo 5? I find myself often swinging the gun around and missing left and right instead of following the target and keeping the gun straight. Is there any recommended controller settings/sensitivities I should use as well?

I think this is one of the great unknowns of gaming. Some people have it, some people don’t. Some people can acquire the ability with practice, some people can’t. Some people used to be able to do it, then they got older and it really just doesn’t work for them anymore. Just hope that you’re one of the people who can improve through repetition.

Personally I use sens 4 accel 5 dead zones 0 and it works really well for me. I never really practiced aiming, I just got it either through years of playing halo or naturally born with it (some people claim that time played has nothing to do with skill, so I don’t know which one it is.) When I want to warm up, I’ll play campaign (yes campaign). Most will practice with octagon, basically a map in the shape of an octagon with no obstructions. Usually they’ll have the loadout set as sniper pistol, but really you can use anything that you want to practice your aim with. Of course, you’ll need other people to practice your aim on.

Try with the new conf(outer, inner, etc) On legendary, custom, or wz

I would say recon’s got it about right. One Spartan’s trick is another Spartan’s bane. I greatly improved when I made a conscious decision, and continue to reaffirm every game, not to move my right stick hardly at all. I still struggle with this, but slowly and surely I will get better.

Oh, and by the way, I run Bumper Jumper, Look Sensitivity 3 with horizontal at 3.5 and vertical at 2.5, Look Acceleration 3, Inner and Outer Deadzones at 0%. So yeah, you can see already different from the previous post.

The higher sensitivity is more for closer range fighting, the slower is better for longer range aiming, all depends on your play style. Best thing to do is find out which is yours and adjust the sensitivity and look acceleration to suit your needs.

By playing a game with a properly designed aiming system.

You should start with a lower sensitivity and work your way up. Attachments like laser sight and such might help too.

Most people think to aim it’s 100% the right stick. It’s actually 50% the left stick and 50% the right stick, the left stick to get it near the enemy and the right stick to make small fine ajustments.

Go play Overwatch and THEN tell me that Halo 5’s aiming is bad…

Bump your sensitivity up to 5+ and “Look Accel…” to 2 and it won’t bother you so much, guaranteed.

Really focus in on the reticle and where it’s going.

Also try Octagon.
